They're saying the knee surgery was successful and they only had to do a revision to the existing replacement knee. They only replaced the upper component this time around and claim it will make the knee stronger and more resistant to unwanted lateral motion.

All that is well and good, but, even with the dilaudid pump and lortab pills, the knee hurts like a b!tch!

Anyway, its taken me 15 minutes to type this, so I'll probably be doing more reading than posting tonight.

Glad to hear it was a success!

I've been hurting from a work incident for a year and a half with my right knee. Dr. is trying Euflexxa injections but they are not working. A knee replacement is my next step.

Keep us posted with updates as I am interested in your progress.

Glad it went well. As far as ‘pain’ goes, I have one word for you; “Vicondin!”  Better healing through narcotics I always say!

I’m just 3 weeks out from my surgery. I’m off the nighttime pain meds, but still popping a couple during the day, particular on rehab days! I went from no movement to a forced 94 degree bend yesterday. I figure I need 110 degree minimum to bend it to shift.  Lord willing; maybe by October and we can get in a fall color tour! I'm still thinking about a set of forward controls too. We'll see.

We’ll be praying for you. Keep me posted.

Good news, and best of luck.  Post-op knee replacement recovery is directly related to your efforts in follow-on physical therapy.

That's 100% correct, Jess. I had the left knee done in 2005 and this is the fourth revision to this knee (long story - original replacement, lower half of appliance installed 60 off plumb). Therapy will be done as ordered with lots of home exercises thrown in for good measure.

My folks have had all four done, and my dad's left done over once.  His PT trainer came to their home last time, and he called her the torture lady (and he wasn't smiling).

I played football for some years, and got the usual injuries in my life, and have some back and ankle problems, but my knees are great with nary a wobble (without ETOH  LOL).

Hey Jess, I played college football for all four years at a MAC school . . . and never once got hurt, but then blew out my knee with a simple little 'trip' on flat ground. I literarily tripped on my own feet. HAHA!

Yeah, life is fair.

So, were you a Chippewa?  I was at EMU from '71-'75 when they were the Hurons... before they changed to something PC.  No college ball for me, not big enough, and I saw how beat up the walk-ons got.  At the time Eastern had the longest losing streak in collegiate history, and after attending a few miserable games, I adopted the Wolverines as my team.... they're still my team.

PS vicodin is wonderful........ but forget having any bowel movements for the indefinite future.  2funny

Glad it went well.  Do your therapy!  Started therapy for my arm last week.  Had sweet little Suzy asking me if this or that hurt.  "Oh nooooo, poor baby!"

This week the honeymoon's over.  Brunhilde is driving me like a little Nazi "Schwinehund!!! Lift das dumbell, you little girly-man!!!"

CMU? OUCH! Oh man, you couldn’t be more wrong! I was a BRONCO!!!!!!!!! WMU baby! HAHA! We HATED anything from Mt. Pleasant! In fact, I still don't like going up there! The funny part was, my roommate during my freshman year had a girlfriend that went to Central. So, we would go up there as often as could. They were a bizarre couple. He was a basketball played from New Buffalo and she was a chubby little cheerleader who was just plain crazy and passed gas like a drunken sailor. I thought for years that all CMU girls farted as a way of showing affection.

Jess, where do you live now?

Right under Sodom on the Potomac in Alexandria VA (Fairfax County, a few miles from Mt Vernon)

I guessed CMU based on your avatar  "Central MI"

I applied, and they accepted.       (doh)

I had good enough grades for a better school, but I had Summer work at Great Lakes Steel (10 summers), and EMU was closest to my home on Grosse Ile (no way I'd go downtown to Wayne State), so I lived at home every summer and worked at GLS (only an hour travel between home and Ypsi).  Became an RA for soph, jr, sr years for free room and board, so I never transferred (paid for every cent of my schooling).   Then ended up at Wayne State for Law School anyway (I detested Wayne).  I met every objective criteria for admission to Michigan Law School except I was white (quotas), so they wouldn't take me...... truth.      All old history now.

HAHA! Ok, I asked for that!

As I’m sure you know; there’s an interesting history on Michigan Law School ‘reverse discrimination’ (not a good phrase because discrimination is discrimination) acceptance policy. . .  and how they went to great lengths to circumvent court rulings against their political objectives. Many of the ‘bodies’ they filled in to get their ‘numbers’ ended failing miserably because they simply weren’t qualified or prepared to be there. Just another story, in a long line of similar stories, most people have never heard about from the mainstream media, but it sounds like you were in the trenches.

I started Grad school work at a U of M satellite campus, but never stuck it out. At the time it was just too much money & time. As it turned out, it was a good (lucky) call because it would have been meaningless to my career.
