I'm thinkin Kendall can enlighten us as to what may be able to happen behind the walls.. This is a misconception regarding the US correctional system. It has nothing to do with location but rather financial liability. If a prisoner has family then it can be very expensive to turn a prisoner out to population when you know there's a good chance their life is in danger. I'm not saying that I like it, but it is what it is. I've been around the prison system, state and Federal all up and down the east coast (on business, not as a guest). The most draconian conditions were often found north of the Mason/Dixon. Go do some time in a PA state pen and tell me how "hugs" you got. |

If he is given the death penalty, he won't be in general population. He'll be on Death Row for however long it takes to put him down. Way worse than segregation.
