5294 miles in 13 days.  Rode down I-5 yesterday to make it home about 500 mi yesterday.  Last couple days down Oregon coast on 101 and then through Ave of the Giants, redwoods in Northern CA. That was great, cool weather, huge redwoods and like riding though a narrow canyon formed with redwoods.  then through Napa Valley, Calistoga, St helena, beautiful grapes and wineries.

My buddie was going to ride down east of San Francisco with me for our last day, but his tire was giving out so he headed home and still had 10 - 15 miles left on the tire.  I had one last 500 mi day through central CA, all freeway on I-5 except I cut off through back way into desert, hot as hell, pouring water on myself every hour.

I've had some other posts about this, but up from SoCal desert, Yosemite, Grand Tetons, Yellowstone, Sturgis, Black Hills SD, Glacier, great back roads in Montana, Idaho, WA, down Oregon coast and back to CA that has some of the greatest rides anywhere.

Bikes held up well.  i had to replace headlight bulb (had it with me).  My buddie with 2010 Triumph had his plastic attachment securing one of his throttle cables break while in SD.  We jury-rigged it with zipties that I had and secured it with bailing wire my friend brought along.  it lasted the rest of the trip. Good field repair.  a few adventures including getting lost on a road we were taking over mtns in oregon.  went 38 miles and turned around and went back.  Doesn't sound so bad but last 15 miles before we turned around on packed clay with lots of rocks size of golfballs and baseballs going 15 mph before we gave up on GPS that said it was only 90 miles more to next road.

Overall great trip, wish i had more time.  today washing all the clothes, clean bike, fix battery cable on car and back to work tomorrow . . .  what a shame.  Sad

a few pics from last couple days.

oregon coast

More of same.

My buddies tire gave out so he missed the last day and headed home.  made it safely.

I am a happy guy.   Grin Grin Grin  don't mind going to work if I can do this again.

^ I'd hit it sober. More than once.

^ I'd need some booze. And maybe disinfectant.

But it looks like a good time. The trip I mean.

What day did you roll through the NorCal coast and the Avenue of the Giants?  Did you stop at the Klamath River to view the whale in the river under the bridge?  The coast redwoods... my home turf.   Cool
