I've seen several solo Standard / Tourer and a few Super Valks with this mount removed....How do you get it off ? It appears welded on the back-side however I'm not sure  Undecided  Can anyone hook me up with the information needed to remove this mount ?

Yep, got the same mount, it's welded.  I don't think it's coming of easy. Cry

Mine is stock (painted metal) and has a large nut behind it.  Yours is chrome, so don't know.  But look for the nut.

Never mind.  Thought you were referring to the post, didn't realize you were talking about the U bracket.

Yes so have I, I'm guessing we're just lucky  ???  and have the ones that were manufactured different.  We'll see what others have to say.

Apparently there are 2 different styles. My 99 Std is held on with a nut as well. Maybe a different set of hangers. I noticed yours are chromed, so the question is how badly do you want that piece gone?

I want them off ....A couple bikes I've saw with them removed had plug to cover the hole left by removing....I'm not worried about a plug at this time I've first got to get them off....Anyway you can take a picture of the back-side of yours ?

Can't the whole chrome back plate be removed and replaced with a piece from another year or perhaps a polished stainless piece.

The saddlebag guard and saddlebg rails attaches to the same bracket the peg mount is on .

I had a chick need a ride to her car a while back (bout ten minutes). I told her that she was welcome to a lift but that she'd have to ride on sheetmetal and there had better not be any rivets in her Daisy Dukes. She actually said the ride wasn't too bad but wouldn't want to do it for any period of time.

Excellent idea and sticky fender    cooldude ....To steer this back on track now ....I'd still like to hear from anyone who has the non-bolted passenger foot peg mount removed and how they did it.

Joe, I think the mount you have is not stock, but aftermarket. I don't remember any Valks coming with chrome mounts for the passenger pegs. Bet the chrome mounts are the problem. A set of stock type mounts will fix your problem.   cooldude

I know its a bit more expensive, but valkyriebling has something up about chrome pass peg mounts. Thought I read something about exchange basis. Get a stock set, and get them chromed.....

Joe.....

Them chrome mounts is worth $$.  You might want to reconsider trading them.

Pinwall has some regular black OEM mounts on fleabay.  Type in "valkyrie exhaust mount".  There's several sets for around 20 bucks.  They clearly show a hole in the middle that you could plug.

You could sell the chrome passenger peg mounts, and use the proceeds to buy and chrome the stock replacements. Win win.
