Hey all,

Planning a ride to the Gatlinburg area leaving from the Detroit area on Thurs 9-8-11 in the afternoon and returning Monday 9-12-11....... So far its just myself and my Dad.

Anyone wanna tag along?

We don't have a formal lodging plan, except to stay downtown Gatlinburg Friday night. Run the area on Saturday and start heading north on Sunday ish. Don't mind sharing rooms and this is a low dough show...... Also we do tend to run a "lil" over the speed limit at times, so be aware...

Would like to meet up with anyone in the area and wouldn't mind a personal tour... Hint-hint Wild Bunch......

Would like to hit the Cherohala, Dragon and anything else we can make.... and find a way north to the west (went north on the east side last year thru Big Stone Gap0...  any suggestions appreciated!

We having been doing a trip for the last 20 years this same weekend...

Drop me a line if interested or reply on this thread.

Thanks in advance,

Brad

Make sure you come up through east TN and ride the Snake. It's in
great shape!

If you make it to Gatlinburg, stay at the Rodeway Inn. It's right downtown, up the hill from the 441-321 turn-off. Got a great pool and the best seat in the house for sunsets of anywhere else in town. I've no affiliation, just been staying there a few time a year for 13-14 years even though I own Stoneybrook Cottage.

The first step in getting somewhere is deciding that you are not going to stay where you are.

If it was me I'd skip Gatlinburg altogether and head for Robbinsville, NC ( Phillips Motel ) . You will be right at Cherohala Skyline / The Dragon and The Moonshine 28 and not have to deal with the traffic from hell that is Gatlinburg...I can be in Gatlinburg in 30 minutes and never go unless we cross The Great Smoky Mountains to Cherokee and even then we hit the by-pass to stay as far away as possible.

There's alot of us from here in Kentucky planning a trip to Smoky mountains leaving that same day here in Kentucky....Right now there are about 10-12 friends/co-workers planning on leaving Thursday afternoon.   I live here in Russell Kentucky.  We are planning to leave  around 4pm Thursday. We're about 5 hours from Detroit.
If you would like to meet up here with us it would be awesome. Pretty good people if I say so myself. If this sounds like something you  would like to do just give us a shout.

Let me know and I can give you my phone number and I can fill in the details....

Anyone from this board is more than welcome if your planning on traveling that weekend.....Bigdog

Brad, do the "Snake" from Bristol, TN to Mountain City, TN. Won't take ya long but you'll never forget it. It's US 421 South.  Pick it up from I-81 exit 1 in Bristol, VA.  .......yep....Bristol is in two states....VA and TN.   I live 5 miles from the Snake in Bristol, VA. If I'm around I may be able to ride along........gimme a yell if interested.......
