Thumper and Duffy took a fall on Saturday......exactly 11,580 feet!

As most of you know I've been battling cancer now for over 7 years.  There was really only one thing that I had on my "bucket list" and that was to go skydiving.  I talked to Duffy and he told me that he had done it a couple of times and that he would go with me.  So on a beautiful Saturday morning we rode over to Monroe Ga. and took care of business.

Jump altitude:  11,580 feet
Opening altitude: 3960 feet
Free fall time: 43 seconds
Fastest speed: 129 mph
Slowest speed: 107 mph
Average speed: 124 mph

That didn't suck!

Thanks Duffy for giving me one of the best days of my life.  As we were riding home we stopped at a stop light and I said to Duffy....we jumped out of a perfectly good airplane and now we're riding home on Valkyries....it just doesn't get any better than that! cooldude

My bucket list has a more mundane thing to do.

Ride to the Key West most Southern Point in America.

Good Job Paul and Duffy too,, for supporting you on this.

Good Pics as well, almost felt like I jumped with you guys.

AL

That's only CONUS though Al.  The southermost point in the US is on the big island of Hawaii.

Yeah... I been there.  But you can't ride your Valk.  There is a a walk involved.  At least there was when I was there.

The pictures turned out great Paul.  cooldude

It was a great day, we both had a blast!  Grin Still grinning two days later.  Cool

The folks at Skydive Monroe (Monroe, GA) are great. If you plan to jump, I highly recommend Bill (owner and pilot of the King Air) and Cat (customer service extraordinaire  Cool and cute too!) at: http://www.skydivemonroe.com/

Thumper had been fighting a good fight against cancer since before I met him and I am proud to have helped knock this off his list. His fight will continue and I am betting on him to win. Everyday.  cooldude

I did that once except I did a static line jump from 3500ft so only about 5 seconds of freefall.  But still...WHAT A RUSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  The hardest part was climbing out of the plane, which was a high-wing Cessna 182 Skylane.  You climbed out onto this little platform mounted over the tire and hung from the wing strut in all of that wind, and then...let go.  When that chute opened, everything just got so quiet and peaceful except for the jump master talking to me through the walkie-talkie mounted on my shoulder.  It was a blast.  Congrats.

Congrats on your venture. I wanted to do that for years. I finally jumped about 8 years ago. What a blast it is!!!! I did it again about a year later. I suggest you do it again. The second jump is even better, because you know what to expect. Thanks for sharing your pictures.

That's just awesome guys.......I've always lived by the saying "WHEN I GET OLD I DON'T WANT TO SAY 'I WISH I HAD'......but rather 'I'M GLAD I DID'"

Again congrats......live life to the fullest.  Tandem jumps are the safest......you are strapped to a jumpmaster with about 10,000+ jumps and he is gonna do what ever it takes to get his own butt on the ground safely.

Good job. Any jump you can walk away from is a good one.
Do it again like has been said. Its more fun the second time.

Way to go guys.  I'm proud of both of you but believe I'm more likely to sleep with Kate Beckinsdale (my bucket list) than jump out of a damn airplane.

Awesome! Thanks for sharing. I'm with Smkin Joe though! After flying for over five years in Uncle Sams Air Force, the only way I'm jumpin' out of a plane is if it is on fire!  laugh

I've got more than a few jumps logged in my Parachutist's Log Book - the first 10-12 military and the rest civilian. Wanted to copy the page and post it, but can't find the log anywhere (haven't jumped in over 28 years). The entry for my first free-fall jump makes the statement that it was better than sex uglystupid2. Don't remember what kind of sex I was getting back then, but I think I'd like a chance to revise that claim. Evil

Real glad ya enjoyed yourself, Thumper!

Congratulations on your jump.  I'm sure that it is fun and all that, and I may jump someday, but I can promise you that my airplane is going to be in pieces before I crawl out of it while airborne...Jim   laugh
