I know there have been many seat threads.I searched the archives and didnt find what i needed. My 98 tourer seat is comfortable, its stock.problem is it makes me sit too close to the cylinder heads,my knees are bent too much, and the highway pegs are so low to the ground they touch pavement if i lean over in a turn a lot.Today i sat back some on top of the passenger seat, about 2 inches beyond the back of the front seat and it was perfect.Too high, but now the stock pegs and all were in perfect ergonomic position.I saw here one time a picture of a guy who had his front seat modified where he could slide farther back and do what i just described.I would like to see those pictures again. It seems if you go beyond the back of the front seat you start rising up on the rear fender.Any input appreciated.I only have a 31 inch inseam, but still need to sit farther back.

An Ultimate king big boy will raise you and put you farther back. Maybe someone in your area will let you try theirs or if you come to Central Texas you can try mine. Pat

I've owned a few seats and the Ultimate was the most uncomfortable one, I sold it and used the money to buy a stock seat which was quite a bit more comfortable than the Ultimate, YMMV. I intend on sending mine to these guys ones of these days http://www.meancitycycles.com/index.php?option=com_zoo&view=category&Itemid=226They have a very good reputation on the internet and I personally met an fella at the Honda store that had one on his VTX1800, he said it was the best thing he's ever added to any bike he's ever owned. Even if it sucks you can have a custom recover job and buy an Airhawk and still only spend about half what an Ultimate costs. If you have big $$$ to spend go for a Russell Day Long.

Well I don't know about $$$ for a DayLong,,,,, but you can get them to build a custom vinyl covered seat for YOU, that sits you back and up for about the same $ as a seat that's a "one seat fits all" product,,, of course the decision is ultimately up to you as to how much your comfort while riding is worth

Well, everybody is going to have a different opinion on seats which is only natural, but it sounds like you may need a peg re-locator kit. Rattlebars made a nice one -- http://www.rattlebars.com/ -- but as you can see, they are "retired". I installed them on my '98 Standard because of a bad knee and they really helped with leg comfort. I have since had that knee replaced, but have kept the peg re-locators. They move the pegs forward and down. It may be possible to still find a set from ebay or directly through the VRCC classifieds. FYI, I couldn't ride my stock seat for more than 20 minutes without discomfort. Found a Mustang seat on the VRCC Classifieds and have been pretty happy. Would like to try the Ultimate -- I even won an Ultimate Seat discount coupon at InZane -- but, can't afford one right now. Also, Mick-o-pegs might help. I don't have 'em, but there are some folks in the Dallas area who do. They "fold" down when you need them and then "spring" back when you don't. Pretty cool idea that keeps you from scraping things up. Good luck!

Does your bike have aftermarket risers? Have your bars been adjusted rearward? What kind of highway pegs? Has your suspension been altered (bike lowered) or is it getting tired and sagging too much?
If you are considering an Ultimate, do not let them tell you that, with an inseam of 31, you need the Lowrider. I believe the Big Boy raises you about 1", but maintains the same distance to the bars. I believe the King Big Boy raises you about 1" and scoots you back about 1". Please, anybody correct me if I'm wrong. I just checked their site and it does not give that kind of detail.
My recommendation is to sit on as many different seats as you can before spending the bucks on a new one of your own.
There is always the AirHawk, Cabbie beads, and Butt Buffer to consider as interim (or long-term) solutions.

my bike has only 26,000 miles on it.It has no suspension issues. The handlebar reach is stock and perfect.I just need ti sit about 2 inches farther back. The highway pegs were from my old goldwing.they are mounted to the crashbar that goes under the cylinder heads, because mounted on the upper crash bar they are way beyond my reach. They have to be angled downward, thats why my boot heel scrapes going around corners.micopegs would probably do the same thing since they arent really made for valkyries but are for goldwings.I dont need my feet forward if i get my rear rearward. That make sense? One guy here had his stock seat redone where it allowed him to sit further back. You would have to slouch a little to the bars, but that is more tolerable than the overbent leg position i am in now.I use the highway pegs going in a straight line, but have to lift my feet back to the stock pegs when leaning hard.Actually the pegs are just stalks with the pegs removed, they are that low.

One guy here had his stock seat redone where it allowed him to sit further back. I did that also to my factory seat, spend about two days in the garage carving away at the foam moving me back about 1 1/2" and making it way better than the stock configuration. If you want to give it a test sit you're more than welcome.

We should be having another monthly meeting before too long. Maybe we can have a swap-a-seat-a-thon there.

Try a 2000-up stock seat...the nose is higher than the earlier models and is a vast improvement. If ya like it, a new one is only $90 or so.

If you like the upgraded stock seat let me know. I have one with less than 500 miles on it along with the rear seat with backrest and sissy bar pad. Pad is still in the plastic. Would be willing to make a fellow VRCCr one $%%^& of a deal on the set. Replaced with Corbins.

...micopegs would probably do the same thing since they arent really made for valkyries but are for goldwings...
Mick-O-Pegs, Model CC is made for Valkyries.
