I agree with your sentiment and think the whole thing is a bunch of phooey (That's a technical term), however, it was President Bush that signed the bill into law phasing out incandescent light bulbs...

Presidents in the past have sucked,so it is only fair to let this one to continue sucking as well.

Many presidents have screwed us for a full 8 yrs so the current POTUS is ENTITLED to the same

FDR had 12 yrs (1933 to 1945 ) to spend the country into prosperity and Obama is only asking for 8 total.   What a bargain! .....oh and Bush sucked. He sucked alot. Obama is a god because Bush sucked.
Obama can do no wrong because bush sucked. And George bush created a lot bigger hurricanes than Obama has...because George sucks. ( OOPS! I forgot the sarcasm font )

Hey !  Now I know why it's nice to be a liberal. The rants are so easy and only one answer or rebuttal is ever necessary.....BUSH SUCKS.  And Obama gonna pay my rent and make gas a dollah !  uglystupid2

OK, so, Bush signed the law, it was still GE, who owns the TV stations and media that give lopsided leberal news and gave even more lopsided presidential candidate time to Obama, that got low and no interest loans from Obama, that paid no taxes under Obama, and moved their plants to China, under Obama.  But again, it's Bushes fault.  Oh, and isn't GE still doing business with Iran, While Obama is president?  uglystupid2

So what's the individual answer.  How about this.  In 5 years I've change 2 light bulbs in my house.  So why don't I go buy a six pack of incadesence light bulbs and I won't need to buy any bulbs for 15 years, a twelve pack and it would be 30 years.  If you add that the last time I change a bulb was just a year ago, then I got 19 years before I have to buy another light bulb.  By then I'll be living with the daughters and they can pay to change the light bulbs.  $5 dollar investment now saves me $60 later. Opps that's not federal spending thinking.

No cash out of my pocket other than the initial $5 investment. No taxes to the government, no demand to create jobs, no added use of the infrastructure so it doesn't need repair, no addition use of natural resources.  Not worried about landfilling because I'll just throw it on the floor and break it and sweep it up and throw it in the trash. Just a silly law at this point for me.

What the true sad part of all this is that this is the type of legislation that comes out of the Federal government.  Not the big fix it difficult legislation that's needed to fix the economy, jobs, social services, imagration, security, and so forth.  Then they brag about how great of a job they are doing.

The old definition of a politician is "One who passes legislation to create a problem, then complains about the problem, then passes more legislation to fix the problem they created, then brags about fixing the problem that they created, but also by the new fix has caused another problem and starts the whole cycle over again".

Oh and to make the liberals happy "It's Bush's and Cheney's fault". Gag me.

Its "funny" how they allways say what a good job theyre doing,,,,,,for you.
My dad told me one fine day, when I was all full-o-myself;
"That if there was any bragging to be done, someone else would be doing it".
Kinda odd how I hear no one saying what a great job the 542 elected tormentors are doing.

Bet they make it part of your local recycling program which will have to be funded so your taxes go up, unproportionately of course, and they'll fine you if you don't recycle them.

Banning incans was dumb.

It wasn't Obama's fault.

GE sucks.

That said, our town dump is well managed and actually MAKES money so no tax increases due to CFL lamp disposal.

I'm going LED. I run through a couple of bulbs per week. My house was built 1898. No idea when the wiring was put it, but it's still knob and tube wiring in some places. (Yeah, it needs to be replaced. There's about as much chance of me laying hands on that kinda dough as there is of me sprouting wings from my nether regions and flying to Mars.) I tried the LED, and they seem indestructible. I'll just replace the incandescent bulbs with LEDs as they go out. While that sounds expensive, it's the least expensive short term option available. Plus, I like the idea of the reduced load on that old wiring.

SO as I see it.

GE is going over seas because Geroge Bush was the last President and should have seen that Obama

was going to put this man that is sending his company over seas in cahrge of the jobs recovery and stopped him how?

Gerogie is looking better to me all the time and I hated him . Well not hated but I sure thought the Presidency is

fast becoming a big joke and thus the USA as well.

It all started with Jimmy and continued with Pecker Head Clinton and now it's Obaminator.

What next are we gonna blame Reagan and Bush Senior for Oabmas boo boos.

The man needs to stand on his own tow feet eventually and face the music.

I'm not sure that wings from your nether regions could fly you to mars, but that is one heck of a mental image   2funny 2funny 2funny

I watched the mythbuster rig a electric panel up with all kinds of bulbs and turn them on and off every 15  or 30 seconds. after 30 days the only one still working was the LED (don't qoute me, I wasn't paying that close attention)

And less heat generated. Both a plus and a minus though, depending on the season or where you live.

Get a heater for heat and LED for light ! Are you suggesting a second light source for the warmer months?

No, just that incans give off a lot of heat, more than most people realize. But in the winter that's not such a bad thing.

So incans in the winter, LED's in the summer.  Cool

If I rewire the whole house for 12v (solar) when powering LED,I'll just flip to 120 for incandescent when the old wood stove is not enough....but I think 12v (solar) fans for heat distribution may be more efficient use of my 'carbon foot print'.
