GOT CURVES??

VRCCDS0184

« on: August 30, 2011, 03:07:26 PM »

The date for the 2011 ride is Saturday October 8th. Kickstands up at 9am.

Ground Zero for this years ride is Best Western in Cuba Missouri. 246 Highway P Cuba, MO 65453
Phone is 573-885-7707 Ask for Gita. Tell her your with the VRCC Motorcycle Group and rooms are $69.99 for a double, thats a nice $20 discount.
They have a nice gravel area at the end of the hotel where we can hang out around a campfire and relax. Make sure to bring a folding chair.

We have tried to offer a mix of the roads everyone enjoyed last year along with a few new ones. We will once again visit Alley Spring and Mill and also have added Dillard Mill on the way back.Dillard Mill is about one mile of gravel road, if anyone wants to skip and ride on they can.

Things to see in the area if you arrive early or stay late.

http://mostateparks.com/park/onondaga-cave-state-park beautiful Cave just 15 miles away. They offer tours throughout the day

http://maramecspringpark.com/maramec/oldiron/index.html Just 18 miles away. Beautiful spring and trout hatchery. They are having Old Iron Works days, or this would be a stop on our route.

Chip is working on having some BBQ back at ground zero when we return. He will be posting details later

Look forward to seeing everyone.

If I don't catch too much heat from the Spyder group I am pretty sure I'm going to skip our annual Spyder ride to Branson that weekend and make the Valkyrie ride. Was great meeting everyone last year and don't want to miss this year. Talked to another guy here (who is not on the web) and he for sure plans to attend. Cuba sure is getting popular with bikes since that is the location of Spyderfest US every year.

Looks like pulled pork, two sides, hamburger buns @  six bucks per person/plate delivered, by a friend and coworker, he has participated in a few competition cook offs and barbecues at auctions, picnics etc. I have not tasted the pulled pork but have had the pleasure of tasting  his pork steaks and ribs, both very good . I will need a count for food prep. estimate sometime closer to Oct 8th. Any one with any special diet restrictions let us know then, so we can try to make everyone happy. I think it would be good to have dinner ready and waiting when we returned, I know how overwhelming it can be for some restaurants when 30 to 50 people walk in at one time. cooldude.

Stopped by the Hotel and reserved a room for Fri. and Sat. and Gita started a group list for us.
"Best Western in Cuba Missouri. 246 Highway P Cuba, MO 65453
Phone is 573-885-7707 Ask for Gita. Tell her your with the VRCC Motorcycle Group and there is a list, the rooms are $69.99 for a double, or king, two persons per room thats a nice $20 discount."
As Sharkey stated they were very open to a Bonfire and us gathering at the back of their hotel in the evenings. The building and lot was very clean, and level all rooms walk out to the parking lot. And breakfast is included,( eggs , sausage ,biscuits & gravy ,waffels, cereal , donuts etc). After visiting the hotel the wife and I rode sevral of the roads we plan on ridding Oct 8th , much of the roads have been, or are being repaved. They were very smooth, made the twisties that much better. Please let us know on this thread or through a personal message when you make the decision to come. This will help with the food prep for Sat night.  I'm really looking forward to getting together with everyone.

Chip,

Why don't you add two more for the BBQ. Regina and I will be eating there.

If any of the PBR crowd is coming, they have plenty at Maces Supermarket about a half mile from the hotel. They also have a good selection of hard stuff at good prices. Missouri liquor sales stop at 1:30 am.

Two weeks to go, the cooler riding weather is setting in. I'm starting to think about food prep for Sat. evening after our ride .As mentioned earlier I had gotten a bid to have our food catered by a friend at a sweet price of six bucks per person, but with the current list of attendees it looks like I along with a few of the local members will be handling that ourselves. It would not be profitable for him with the small group that has commited so far. I know we have two weeks and some are waiting for the 10 day forcast and waiting to commit. So here is the list as I have it now ,and if I have it incorrect or am missing anyone let us know. Thanks

My wife is planning on attending as well, along with another Valk rider from my area not sure if he wants to eat as well however I will try to get in touch with him this week. If all else fails there is some pretty good places to eat in Cuba as well and it is a very biker friendly town.

Just saw that this  event is in Cuba Mo.  Wife unit is from a small town in that area called ......... wait for it........ Rosebud. Small german settlement where most people there are related is some form or fashion.
Lots of good roads to cruise arround in that area. We were up there this summer for a wedding and we brought the valk with us. We had a ball. Ended up in Branson for two day riding also.

Just looked at the 10 day forcast, looking good. Low of 50 Fri & Sat night ,65/70 on Sat. Of course this is a 10 day forcast and could change, but I'm good with it. Hope to see you there.

 tickedoff Sad
I hate to do this, especially this late in the game.

It wasn't looking good for Kerri to make the trip as her back has been giving her more problems lately, but now I have to drop out as well due to problems at work. My Lt's mother is having some serious health problems and he is on emergency leave which leaves me no one to put in charge while I am gone.

Sorry Chip, I was really looking forward to this and have been overcoming obstacle after obstacle that keeps trying to mess up my plans this weekend, but evidently what I want is not to be.

We'll make it out sometime, just not this time Sad

Looks like the weather will be perfect, trees are just starting to change, should be a great day.
Some of us is meeting for breakfast here in Waynesville at Price Cutters (exit 156 I44) at 0700 with a planned departure of 0730 for the last 50 miles to Cuba. Anyone riding in from the west Saturday morning is welcome to join us.
