As Joe says, take 2 of ya and do it this way.
1 operate the key, the other one use both hands and press VERY firmly on th nose of the seat and pull up. It should come unlatched.
Mine used to fit very very very tight till it got a good break in done on it.......
I have going to put a zip tie on the latch to assist in getting it open, but have never got a Round2it... Anyone got a Round2it laying loose and want to send it to me?

as you turn the key. Some have had the wire in the cable freeze up. You may need to take the side covers off to get access to the lever that the key via the wire turns and do it manually this time. Then take it apart and lubricate the wire.

Have someone turn the key while you press down hard on the front of the seat, it should pop up. The latch needs to be adjusted and lubed a little.

I had the same situation that Thunderbolt had. I took the cable off and lubricated it. Now it works very easily.

I had to replace the cable on my 99 IS. It was stuck and wouldn't move and my attempts to free it all failed. So I just replaced with a new cable. The biggest problem was getting the cables swapped out as I didn't remove the front cover...I just fished everything with the cover still in place.

Yup, lubrication amply applied (especially the cable) will solve the problem. Always a good idea to help by pushing down on the seat. It'd be a shame to break something trying to force the darn thing to unlock. Lubricate, lubricate, lubricate.

Thunderbolt and I rassled with mine in Johnson City a couple of Inzanes ago. At one point I thought we'd have to go thru the tranny to get to it! After we got it unlatched, I lubed every keyhole I could find. Almost lubed the key of b flat! Terry, didn't we have to get to the latch itself from the backside and help it open wider with a driver or something?

the cable on my seat latch was corroded. I was just barely able to see it from the left side with the cover removed. I got the longest hose I could find for the WD40 and let 'er rip, then wiggled the key back and forth. This happened to me in my garage, it would have been a real bear if I couldn't remove my seat to get to my tire fixin' gear when I had a flat. I shoot a bit of lube on it often.

This is how I did it: 1. Remove the seat 2. Remove the screws that fasten the latch to the frame. 3. Separate the latch from the cable. This is a little tricky. 4. Put the cable out as far as you can to straighten it. 5. Spray some chain lube into the cable. Find an old Harley rider and take his chain lube when he isn't looking :-) 6. Put it all back together. Connecting the latch to the cable is very frustrating, but it can be done. Good luck.

is where we got to it. Pushed the release with a screwdriver to get it off. Of course yours was a had to do, what with the new seat and all. But to the original poster, take the left side cover off and you can probably see where the latch actually releases and push it with a screwdriver.
