OK, just got off the phone with him. This "sounds" totally legitimate. The guy builds drag racing engines, took it as partial payment on an engine, has the title and everything..Would be worth checking out if you need a Valk. He says it is in perfect condition. I told him he had spelled Valkyrie wrong and called it a 1600 cc and people raised eyebrows.

Yeah, I think it's legit. Real nice guy too. I would have to get divorced to buy another one but you could sell it for more than that and make a profit. Plus, what would I do with two?? Almost good riding weather. We should ride sometime.

Pretty nice.
I Emailed him to see if it is available for inspection and if he'd take cash at that time.

Wasn't there someone saying in another thread, that they could buy standards in Florida all day long for $3,000? I'm sure he'll come down... R

How come, whe someone says stuff like that (all day long for 3 grand) there is never a backup to the wild and crazy statement? I would believe an occassional distress sale, but not to darn often will they go that cheap and not need 2000 plus to make it right. But given that there is no exaggeration here, Walkure is probably right, he will come down.

Here's a $2K'er from Florida. Wasn't really a distress sale, the kid just wanted to move it quick to buy some musical instruments for his rock band. I was at the right place at the right time. Took a test ride & whipped out the $2,000 cash when I got back! Filthy, nasty, full of "redneck engineering" & questionable mods but in solid shape, ran perfectly with 46,000 miles. Has a dent in the tank I haven't got out yet but otherwise cleaned up real nice. The kid threw in a set of beat up LeatherLyke hardbags that I gave to Scott from Maine. He made them into a real nice set for his yellow Standard. Also came with the baffles for the Cobras, backrest & backseat, some spare parts & best of all a factory Honda shop manual. Other than adding the bags & w/s to convert it to a faux Tourer it took about another $600 to make it nice. Even with the hardbags & Honda shield I have less than $3,500 spent as it sits now. There are some deals to be had out there, you just gotta be quick with the cash when you run up on one!

I have 12 cars, 7bikes, a motorhome and a boat. We were at an estate sale two years ago and the wife sees a VW based kit car. It looks like a 1927 Bugatti. Last registered in 82. She wanted it, and we will go for the test drive this weekend. I've done alot of work on it. Howzat for a good wife?

I have three bikes, a '66 Cyclone, and at the time a '40 Pontiac, a GMC PU, a Mustang Cobra convert, and 3 "normal" cars. I had found another bike that I really wanted, and my wife put her foot down and said, "How many asses do you have anyways?" Valid question, after all I thought. Now as I am getting older, I've been thining the heard, so the PU, the '40 Pontiac, and the Mustang are now fond memories. Besides, every space that held a car can hold two bikes at least. The possibilities are looking up! We have REALLY cool wives... Jabba
