A school day friend of my wife was killed friday on her motorcycle. On another local forum I'm a member of someone posted about a lady hitting a guard rail friday on Cherohala Skyline and was killed. I'm not sure if this was Sonja or not as I've googled all the local TV and newspaper sites and can't find any infomation as to where she crashed. Our group crossed Cherohala alittle after 1:00 friday on the way to " The Meet In The Middle Ride " and we did'nt see anything at that time. Picture below is Sonja she won this Harley a couple years ago from a local radio station.

I knew who she was however to say I " Knew " her would be a lie. My wife would talk to her from time to time they was really close back when they both was younger.

I remember as we were crossing the Cherohala in one of the curves we were in there was a large oil spot that was covered with sand in the other lane that looked like an accident that had just been cleaned up.

UPDATE.....Just got this from another forum I'm a member of.  It was around 1:00 when we crossed last friday she was killed around 10:00 that morning  Sad

A Tennessee woman
was killed instantly on the
Cherohala Skyway near
Spirit Ridge when she lost
control of her motorcycle
and hit a guardrail before
ejecting the vehicle.
The Nor th Carol ina
State Patrol said Sonya
Fay Foust, 48, of Lake City,
Tenn. was killed as she
was going downhill on the
Skyway and lost control of
her Harley-Davidson about
9:55 a.m. Friday.
The motorcycle “was
traveling too fast down
the mountain for a curve,
traveled off the roadway
to the right and struck the
guardrail face,” the state
patrol report said.
“After impact the motorcycle
slid along the guardrail
until it was delected
towards the road,” the report
said. “At this point the
operator was ejected off the
motorcycle.”
The sister of the victim,
Teresa Hinds of Tennessee,
said the victim was driving
with a group of lady bikers
from Knoxville. Foust,
who was raising her two
grandchildren, won the
Harley in a contest a couple
of years ago.
“She never met a stranger,”
Hinds said. “She was a
ball of fire. She was the life
of the party.”
More than 150 people
attended the victim’s funeral
Labor Day despite
a drenching all-day rain,
Hinds said.

I knew her when she was in her 20's.

She went with a friend of mine and Joe's,,, Darrell Rayfield and they had one daughter, Rebecca.

Her and Darrell parted ways and Darrell always supported her with money and his time.

As he is a mechanic.

We use to go up to their house about every weekend and Darrell and I would drink beer and watch little Rebecca play.

Sonya was always happy when we were around her, despite being poor as a church mouse at that time.

I will miss her, as will my wife, she worked at the Doctors office my wife visits from time to time.
