I like music. But if it was me, and it was my 1st gathering, I say no band. It would be nice to set around and meet with the folks without shouting over music. If this became a yearly event, and even into the late night, then a band would be good. Even tho I know 90% of the ones coming, I like to visit. Radio music would be good. But this is just me.  coolsmiley

Thanks, Fudgie...my thoughts, too.

Looks like we're going to have around 25 for certain, and maybe another 10, if they all show up. Guess I'll call it "closed", and go with these numbers.

So far, still looks like 67°, and partly cloudy - PERFECT!

Drive careful, you all, and arrive safely - the chow's good, but not good enough to risk your necks.

See you there here!

I would've like to make it, should be within my now limited range, but I just had laser surgery on both eyes with cataract removal coming up the last of Sept.  Gonna be busy with eye drops ,etc.

It sounds great!  I'm 100% with Fudgie on the music.  I like to talk but don't like to compete with loud music.

Maybe next year.

I am starting to get some pressure from the SO, but I am still firm.  She has to go apartment looking with her mom on Saturday.  I ain't interested.  It all comes down to a sitter.  If I got someone to hang with my boy then I am there.

I agree with Fudgie ... radio music or just an mp3 on shuffle played through a small PA would be perfect.

See you Saturday!

Thanks, all! That's what we'll do.

And, if you happen to have an mp3 player, with YOUR choice of music, and want to bring it, we can have a really diverse musical interlude! I mean, even I can only handle so much Montovani, Ferrante & Teicher, and the Singing Nun, MY favorites...

Looks like it's going to be a great gathering! Wish all of you that can't come, could, and those that are, a safe trip.

Walküre,
As much as I hate this, it seems that someone else's emergency has become my problem.  It now appears I'll be working Saturday instead of sharing some fellowship and food with the group.  I can't tell you how ticked this makes me but, I gotta make a living to support my family and habits.  Sorry, maybe next time.

Man, oh man!! You know how hard it is, to put those ribs back ON the pig??!!   Grin

I understand totally - the very first post, I said I wasn't holding anyone to anything. I mean, they have a saying for things like that - "There was an old lady from Nantuck...." no, that's not it - oh yeah, "poop happens!".

As you said, maybe next time - I'm hoping that we have a good enough time, that people will WANT to do it again, and we'll repeat next year, and as long as I am able...

Thanks for letting me know.

Noticed you're having a BBQ. I have my Valk in the shop putting in some Progressivve for springs and changing out the 440's for som 416 airshocks. If its finshed tomorrow, I will try to show. Do I need directions or just follow the line of Valkyries converging on Oxford.  Smiley

Nah, mine will be parked out in front...look for that.    Grin

Wow, just noticed, doesn't look ANYthing like that, now!

By your location, don't know if you're kidding or not, but ALL are welcome! My father-in-law showed up one morning, on our porch in San Diego County, CA, from Indiana, un-announced! Said he got in his camper van, and just kept going. I can't wait for the day, that I can do that, but on the Valk. Seven more years, if I can hold out that long.

Bring your appetite!!

Man, dropping like flies!   Cry

Totally understand - it's that time of year, for the "seasonal bug". I hope everyone feels better!! That's the important thing!!

Spent the day so far, getting things ready. Cutting up this and that, marinating the ribs, cleaning the deck, burning the trash - still have to move the fridge out to the deck, load it up, and I might call it a day.

See y'all in the morning...

5:50 am here.  Radar looks like some rain over there. Also noticed on weather map the time.  I forgot that there is a time difference.  We will be there  mid morning.  Please push the rain farther east.

We are home.  And I would like to thank Roger & Karen again for hosting this event.   There were several people there.  Not sure of final count but around 25 or so.  Weather was questionable this morning. Several people came in with rain gear.  We had a good time.  Nice to meet everyone.  And if Roger does this again I would sugest he raises the donation up from  $5.  The food was   GREAT!!!

Had a blast at the cook out. Thx for a good time! It was good seeing everyone again. Even met some new faces. Kinda digging that horse shoe game. Even tho we hit some sleet riding over it was still worth it. Thought we might have got lucky on the way home. But again before Peru we hit more rain.  Angry We said f-it and blasted thru half of Cass Co and all of Miami Co and made it to Wabash before stopping. Faster then we should have.  police Enjoyed a hot chocolate and a free old gas station sammich. They were gonna throw it out but at least it was warm.  Undecided Rolled in a tad before 9. Hot shower and hanging out the leathers. Thx again and hope to see everyone in Oct.  cooldude

Thanks to Roger and Karen. Good food and good company. Was chilly riding home. Ran into wet roads from Peru on. Started raining halfway between Huntington and Ft Wayne. Decided we were close enough to home just kept going. It was wet and very cold 20 miles or so. I would not be surprised if I get a cold from it but screw it. Had a good time anyhow. Now I know what a Popsicle feels like.....

What a great time and good food, thanks to Roger and Karen from my group. We had a blast and yes the horshoes was fun. Next time when Kit throws I am moving the bikes further away laugh
We spend the night in Lafayette and kind of rode backroads home and just got in. Just enough rain to make it annoying but still a great ride.
