97 standard advise needed

my ole bumble bee is a 97 standard with 52,000 on her,,durn ole bee will not use oil,,harley friends  brag about their rides using  oil. and leaking.am I doing something wrong??Guess I need to dump a quart jar of sand in her...think it would help??The harly rider thinks Im feeding him a line of bull when I brag about not using oil ...any one ever had this problem??

if it makes you feel better just pour a little oil where you usually park and put some quick dri on it.. or just keep the new unopened quick dri in you bags and tell your friends it's "just in case"

You're not riding her enough.  You need another two, maybe four hundred thousand miles before she starts burning oil.

Drill a small (1/16") or less hole into the top of your oil fill plug. Oil will come out through there and properly cover the right side of your bike, duplicating approximately what happens to a HD when the little umbrella valve hardens and causes oil to be pushed out through the air cleaner. 

If you are not sure that you want to ruin the cap, just take the "O" ring out from under it.
 
That should make you happy.  Simple problem really. Even an idiot can fix it, so you won't need help.

Take the good seal out of your shifter and put in a bad one. This will get you the very slight oil leak you seem to desire. It will also coat the underside quite nicely. Other than that i can't think of nuttin else to make it leak like a hardly. And B T W-why duz ya want it to leak like a h/d??? RIDE SAFE.

give it time, I've got 150k+ on my '97 and it's developed oil leaks twice.
