Picked up what I was told was an 80 something Yamaha 50cc minibike for the kids. They're too young to ride yet but it was 50 bucks. problem Is i don't think its a yamaha. needs carb bits, and the guy at the yamaha dealer looked at me all crazy when I gave hime the VIN. Yellow plastic, fuel tank included. No name markings cast into anything just the VIN of LLCHYJ10241027337. This look familiar to anyone???? Maybe suzuki??? I know its a loooooong shot but it seems that someone here always has an answer, or knows where to find it. TIA.

My guess is it's a Chinese clone. Finding parts for it may be difficult.

I also think that it might be chinese.
If you are having trouble finding parts, send me some pics and as much information as you can.
The guy that works on my bikes for me from time to time. sells alot of chinese scooters and has connections for parts, he can probably find a source for parts.

Why do you think it's 80's model ? Pictures ? Sometimes the Japan bike that the Chinese copied will have interchangeable parts ( they bought the outdated manufacturing equipment used originally ) and some will work with slight modifications.

Bought it from one of my customers. Her husband passed away a few years back, and it was supposedly the bike her kids rode when they were young. ( late 20's early 30's now) so the timeline for the early 80's is right. Could be total bs and won't be devastated to learn otherwise. its 50 bucks. Carb junked up, and the cluch cover is gone. Its got an auto clutch with a 5 spd. Could be chinese, some of the parts don't look like they belong, or are from other bikes.

If it is "yellow", I'd suspect it may be a Suzuki not a Yamaha. Can't prove it, but I did sell most everything in Japanese powersports in the early eighties.

This is an 86 DR80. How similar is yours to this one?

Will try to get some pics ( busier than a one legged man right now) The 86 is close, the seat is black, more old school oval. There are no connecting panels from the seat area to the tank. Tank, fender, separate pieces. Saw the same about the VIN on motoverse (?) said the same about it being chinese. Who knows. If i can get it running with what I've got cool, if not. No big deal. Won't make the mistake twice.

Just about any carb for a Yamaha/Suzuki 80 or Honda 90 should work as a replacement carb. They should be available through motorcycle salvage yards. Just a thought.
