I finally settled on the Scorpion Recruit motorcycle jacket.

Do any of you have a preference as to where to buy from regarding customer service and past positive experiences?

New Enough (now Motorcycle Gear)... no one beats their customer service.

However, when in the market for new, good stuff, I always shop closeouts all over the web.

Thanks for the link!

Just to add another question to my post, do any of you have other MC jacket suggestions that might be similar to the Scorpion recruit? I don't want any multicolored jackets or ones with all kinds of drawings, embroidery or graphics. Just a plain "quality" jacket that can be used all year if possible. I might look into a summer version next year.

Thanks in advance.  cooldude

Unless you catch a clearance price, everything I have saw at Iron Pony is higher than most any other. If you go in person, you will have a good selection.

This is a local to me, hardly known shop. I have bought 2 jackets and had them sew my patches on a denim vest I bought from them. You can get a 10% club discount. The jackets are branded there house name or cheaper brands, but seemed ok to me. for my main use I found a Hein Gerricke V-Pilot on ebay in my size after years of searching for a third of new price and can not tell it is not knew. Ebay has excellent used items if you can wait for it.

Thanks for all of the replies!

At present, I'm really eying up the FoxCreek offerings. (I also like supporting items made in the USA!) I'll probably go of two jackets, one being a summer lightweight. These jackets will more than likely be the last ones I'll ever buy so while I'm able, I might as well get some real quality leathers. Now comes the hard part! Deciding on "which" jacket to get! lol.  Wink

I have the Vented Racing Jacket.  The heavy leather is top quality (and makes the jacket like 25 lbs).  I recommend the vents so you can let some air thru as the day warms up (though this is definitely not a warm weather jacket).  I like the side laces rather than tab/snaps; lets you customize the fit to your body.  It is pretty stiff when new and takes some wear for breaking-in, and I have mink oiled mine several times and got caught in the rain the other day and it all ran off.  The only downside was that the liner is only a very skinny fiberfill vest (not full sleeve) and with tiny zippers that don't match up with other bike gear.  So mine is permanently removed and I wear different weights of fleece (tshirts and coldgear mock t) depending on temps.  Also, the inside wallet pocket is lower than I'd like and sits my wallet on top my belly instead of up on my chest.   I see that the website now says Removable Full Sleeve Thinsulate® Liner with hide-away fleece neck warmer.

Man the price is up over $120 from when I ordered mine.

Something you'll notice when shopping bike leather is the better companies list the millimeter thickness, but the others never mention it.  1.4-1.6mm is heavy duty stuff.

That's the same jacket I have only with the laced up sides. It is a quality jacket and when the temps get a little cool I team it up with an electric vest.  I've gotten several comments on the jacket .

When I bought it I ordered one too small so they sent me another one size bigger (while I still had the smaller one) and after I got the larger one sent the smaller one back - great people to deal with !!!!

It will start to fade after a while so it's telling you it's time for an application of Mink Oil - Here's a before / after of the Mink Oil

Yeah, I'm definitely going with Fox Creek!

And as I mentioned before, being that this will be my last jacket purchase, I'm buying two of them! The 'Commander' for winter riding and the 'Summer Riding jacket' for the warmer weather. I'm also throwing in one of their nice thick leather belts as well.

Thanks again for all of the suggestions, support and information!  Smiley Wink cooldude
