Okay, I'm that guy.  As an admin for a few sites I know what I'm asking and it's cool if it gets shot down because I have done the same to avoid having to do overly complicated work for the nothing I get from it, and that includes thanks.

That said, I'd like to see a membership map.  If one exists I didn't run across it with the search tool.  It turns out SMF has an addon that may provide a way to do this.  It uses GoogleMaps and ties it with the location you provide in your profile.  From what I have seen most of you like to hang out with others and ride together.  This feature would help us locate each other in nearby areas and find some riding buddies rather than making a public post about it.

The SMF we're using is 1.1.14 and I don't see that in the compatible list, but worth keeping an eye out for the future versions.  Something more tedious for each person is adding themselves to a group maps like this member chapter map that uses Google as well.

Not sure how others may take it but I kinda like it.  Now as you mentioned, I don't know how much leg work it would take to make it a go.   Also, we have many members that are not active members so I don't know how that would be considered in the mapping but in a perfect world I like the suggestion.

There was such a map around here once. Perhaps someone can produce it.....Pretty sure it won't be current though

We have a 'click on a State and see its members map'. I have not looked at your link but if its a US map and stick a pin in your town kinda thing, like they do at rallies, then thats cool.  cooldude

I'll have a look and see if it can work for us.

First snag.  The mod has not been kept current and doesn't support the new version of the google maps API.  I'll have to test it and see if it will even work.

We'll see....

I've had maps like these years ago on one of my websites, but it's not like here where people are looking to meet up.  Once people add themselves they usually never went back.  I think the way this community works it would be different.  I'll look for some more options.  Those where just a couple I came up with quickly.  I knew the SMF one probably wouldn't work, just because the versions didn't match, I didn't get as far as the Google API.

*update* MyMaps from Google should work just find.  Watch the video on this page.  I didn't want to set up a test one.  I'll let the admins take care of what route this should be taken.
