 OK, I'm stumped. I just installed a pair of deuce risers on my Valk and really like the positioning of the handlebars. Here's my problem- I re-routed the cables as I was supposed to and nothing seems to pull or bind, but now my throttle doesn't return, like something's tight. I spent quite a while to find the problem and I can't figure it out. Any ideas??  Thanks for the read.  Embarrassed

Had a similar problem while finding the right risers for the '99. After I moved the cables behind the triple tree the throttle would not return very well, not at all off center even a little. Finally settled on 1" extensions that were not so radical that they required moving the cables back. Once I put the cables back in stock position the bind went away. Seems my Valk did not like the angle of the cables behind the tree. Longer cables are most likely required for more than a 1 1/2" departure from stock risers.

Had the same problem. Ordered 2" longer than stock and cured problem. Some has re-routed and no problem. New cables solved mine.

go get an interstate throttle housing( $53 ) from Honda and it comes with a kill & starter switch. The standard routes the cables out of the top of the housing and the interstate housing will route the cables out of the bottom of the housing. That will give you about an inch more cable and should fix your problem. That is what I did when I installed the Duce risers and it worked cooldude

go get an interstate throttle housing( $53 ) from Honda and it comes with a kill & starter switch. The standard routes the cables out of the top of the housing and the interstate housing will route the cables out of the bottom of the housing. That will give you about an inch more cable and should fix your problem. That is what I did when I installed the Duce risers and it worked cooldude

+1 that's what I did and didn't have to re-route anything.

Russell is correct if you have a standard you use a Interstate throttle housing and if you have an Interstate you simily buy the Standard cables

You do not need to re route but since the cables are coming out the bottom it will look nicer if you do. Just makes it look cleaner.

 New 2 inch over stock Pro-Motion cables are ordered and paid for. Bad thing is they're 15 days behind on their orders and they're closed for inventory next week. I guess I'll just have to remember to turn the throttle back each time. Had a CB750 that never had a return spring in the 7 years I had it. Thanks for the advice, guys.  Smiley

Actually they're closer to 45 degrees.

Hell, I just put the drag bars on and went with custom cables. I may get the Interstate throttle housing anyway because it'll look cleaner than the standard front exit ones.

Thanks for the reply. The problem I had after routing the stock throttle cables outside (behind) the right fork is that the back of the right fork bumps against the cable as you turn the handlebars to the right and contorts the cable into a hairpin bend at full swing right. The pic below shows the start of the bending  .... where the cable tucks into the neck cover .... not yet at full swing right. At full swing right the throttle doesn't return. In fact neither can you roll on more throttle, not that you would need more throttle with the handlebars at that angle. It's just the fact that the throttle cable being 'locked' is not a reassuring feeling. I'm still on the fence between ordering 2'' longer cables or whether to replace the throttle housing with an I/S throttle housing with ".... since the [I/S] cables are coming out the bottom it will look nicer...." probably being a deciding factor. If memory serves, all I needed was about an inch more slack to accommodate the throttle cable at full swing LEFT.
