I'm going to be spending a few days in the Smokies.......Been looking at the maps, and it seems like either Robbinsville or Franklin would be centrally located.   I will be solo, my main concern is clean.  Old and vintage is preferable.   Suggestions???

Local owned. I've stayed there several times. Good people and good price. It's no holiday Inn but clean place. Anytime I'm up in that area and planning riding the Dragon I try and stay there.

I have " The Fall Color Ride " out of The Phillips Motel the 3rd weekend in Oct. every year. We sell the place out year after year and folks keep coming back we even sell several rooms at the near by motel. Miss Reba is 79 years old and she takes good care of us.

I was in Robinsville about a month ago and the Phillips Motel was highly recommended by most here. I should've made reservations but we just left out on the spur of the moment.

We found a room at Microtel which i was very impressed. The rooms were very clean, friendly staff, great continental breakfast and biker friendly. It was the best Microtel I've stayed at.

Good luck and ride safe! cooldude

The cheaper rooms are sad.

But pay a little more and you get the better rooms.

101 is the best room and the cabins are absolutely great.

If you pay more you get more at Phillips Motel.

Doesn't that door have the name Joe right under the 101?  cooldude

Whatever it is, it's better in the wind.

If you want to stay a bit out of the way the Tuskagee (SP) Motel on 28 was nice years ago, nothing fancy or special but clean and quiet...not sure what its like nowadays.. but worth a check.

This is where we stayed a month ago with biker parking, extra clean for $75 a night.  Wink

Tuskeegee Motel is a real good place on NC 28 about 15 minutes ride to Deal's Gap.  My house is on top of the hill above them too...and I usually have basic tools and some maintenance parts should there be minor issues...Ben Crisp owns the motel...tell them Jim Rhyne recommended it to you :-)  My second bet would be the Microtel in Robbinsville proper.
