thats one of pinwalls adds. ever since honda discontinued the valk parts all the used part suppliers went goofy with prices. while interstate tanks do command pretty good money, by the time you had this tank repaired and repainted, you'd be in it more than a new one.
i had a gearpac for sale for 1/2 of the price of a new one (also discontinued) one of the members actually insinuated i was a thief and what was wrong with the greedy world because i wouldn't sell it to him for $200.00.
no matter i sold both rear ends in a week for a fair price. but if you want to have parts on hand, you better buy them while you can get them cheap. i figure the valk will take on the popularity of the 57 chevy soon.

as per my local honda parts manager -production of valkyrie parts ceased as per government regulations this year. anything you find is just left over stuff. fortunetly a lot of valk stuff crosses over with the vtx1800.
no need to kill the messenger, go rant to honda.
but you made my point on the tank, if a new one costs $1,200.00 the one pinwall has could never be a deal. its a hundred dollar peice, and then only for someone with actual body shop experience that knew how to repair it. with my discount, that would be $1,060 for that tank.

So, the government mandates that they cease manufacture of parts? Some how I don't think that is correct. They just finally put out U joints, so they are still manufacturing them.

any vehicle manufacturer has to guarantee a supply of replacement parts (not to be confused with mainainance items, plugs, u joints, etc) for a certain agreed on number of years after the model has been discontinued. i didn't say the goverment "makes them" discontinue the parts, just allows them to.
after that time limit has been met, the manufacturer discontinues producing those parts. if they didn't every car parts dept. would have windshield rubbers for 100 year old cars, and part depts. would take up a thousand acres behind the dealerships. you have to go to the aftermarket after the mfr. is able to stop.
is simple research, all the info is avaiable to anyone who researches it.

So Honda is now allowed to discontinue production IF they wish to. As long as there is some market they will produce some items. Where is proof that they HAVE discontinued to produce....

I never said " insinuated i was a thief " I said you was greedy...$850.00 for a used final drive thats pure greed in my eyes . Just for the record I got a like new one from another VRCC member for $300.00 If you got that price out of it more power to ya ....There's one born everyday....The $200.00 you claim I offered is another lie on your part I offered you $326.00 for it and still have the e-mails we shared to prove....Man of the Lord my a$$

I seriously doubt Honda has discontinued making all Valk parts. Decal sets? Yeah, they've probably discontinues stuff like that, but mechanical parts will be in demand for many years to come and Honda will be able to make good margin on them. There are enough Valkyrie still on the road to justify continuing production of parts. I think this information about Honda discontinuing production is erroneous and e-bayers like Pinwall are all too happy to keep that crazy train rolling.
