Just want to make sure on the bearings to order:  I plan on replacing both the right and the left side rear bearings and having the rear left "spacer" machined down to size.  Her are the two bearings I have found.  #1  is the 5204-2RS Angular Contact Bearing Sealed 20x47x20.6 Ball Bearings and
#2 is the 5204ZZ Bearing 20x47x20.6 Angular Contact Ball Bearings.  The 5204-2RS is a rubber sealed on both sides bearing and the 5204ZZ is a steel sealed on both sides.  They both have the same dimensions of

#1 is •Item: 5204-2RS Ball Bearing
•Type: Double-Row Angular Contact ball bearing
•Closures: 2 Rubber Seals
•Dimensions: 20mm x 47mm x 20mm/Metric ( I think the 20mm is a misprint, it should be 20.6mm)
•inner diameter: 20mm
•outer diameter: 47mm
•Width: 20mm
•Size: 20 x 47 x 20 mm
•Quantity: One Bearing
•Dynamic load rating Cr: 20,000 N
•Static load rating Cor: 12,700 N
•Limiting Speed:
◦Grease lubrication 10,000 rmp

#2  Item: 5204ZZ Ball Bearing
•Type: Double-Row Angular Contact ball bearing
•Dimensions: 20mm x 47mm x 20.6mm/Metric
•inner diameter: 20mm
•outer diameter: 47mm
•Width: 20.6mm
•Size: 20 x 47 x 20.6 mm
•Closures: 2 Metal Shields
•Quantity: One Bearing
•Dynamic load rating Cr: 20,000 N
•Static load rating Cor: 12,700 N
•Limiting Speed:
◦Grease Lubrication: 10,000 RPM

Any preference from anyone.  Either one good to go?

TIA

Jerry  - I am running the "darkside"

Did you read my article?  If you did you would have seen where I used SKF 3204-2RS bearings.  The stock bearings are 5204-2RS.

thanks Marty for your reply, and yes, I did read your article.  I found it to very well written and easy to follow.  I will use your article when I do the bearing mod this winter.

The reason I posted my question was to make sure that the STOCK bearnings in either "rubber dust seal" or "steel sealed" were of any major difference.  I want to have some alternatives just in case the parts dealer I went to could not get bearings, either your SKF 3204 or the bearing numbers I listed.

Perhaps I am completely wrong on my next point, please correct me if I am.  I did a search on the SKF 3204 bearing and found that the bearing was stated as made in China on a number of product sites. If possible, I would like to buy an American Made bearing - if there is such a thing anymore.

I am not questioning or chiding anyone's purchase choices.  You buy what you want from whom you want - no questions asked.  However, I would like to buy American when I can.  If I can't I will buy what I can where I can.

I bought bearings for my Interstate 3 or 4 weeks ago and they were the same as when I bought them for my Tourer.  They were engraved with Made in USA and the box was printed with that also.

Thanks Marty - good to know.  I'll start looking locally for the bearings.

Check out Motion Industries website to see if they have a store near you.  They're who I use.

No Motion Industries stores close by - the nearest is 55 miles away.  Closest to me is either a NAPA, Carquest, or AutoZone store.

NAPA and Carquest - 4 miles.
AutoZone - 22 miles.

I'll try those.

Good luck with those but the closest Motion Industries to me is about 45 miles away.  When you live in the country you just deal with it.  Honda uses NSK bearings which are a top tier manufacturer.  Before I went to a box car parts store I'd just order 2 right side bearings the next time HDL has a sale on the stock parts side of the house.
