Zumo 660?

Got one.

Love it.

I create complex routes in Streets and Trips then convert them over to the Zumo.

I'd like a 660 for my next GPS http://www.amazon.com/Garmin-4-3-Inch-Portable-Motorcycle-Navigator/dp/B001OMGVMY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1317246719&sr=8-1

Wow! Good deal,  my Nuvi 760 is still working fine, but the zumo 660 is my favorite right now, here where i mounted my nuvi.

Enjoy!

I apologize for the hijack, but you guy's seem knowlegeable regarding Garmins, so I wanted to run a question by y'all.

I've read about "bluetooth" connections listed two ways.

1st way, some GPS units (nuvi's) are said to communicate with a smart phone to allow hands free  telephone communications.

2nd way, GPS unit (like zumo's) communicate with helmet mounted bluetooth to give navigational directions.

I take that's two different types of bluetooth applications.  Am I correct there?  What is the cheapest GPS that will work like example "2"?  Would it be a zumo 220, running about $400 ?

I got a NUVI 660 still going strong, mounted same spot and manner as yours.  Mine does Bluetooth, FM Transmitter and has the MP3 Player that I plug into the Valk.  Love it.....

That is a RAM mount I hope... like what I use.

Dunno about the Zumo 220, but I use my 660 just as you've described daily. I have a bluetooth headset in my helmet (Chatterbox XBi2-H with the matching HJC modular helmet that it snaps in to) and the GPS connects to my cell as well via Bluetooth.

I listen to music from the MP3 player in my Zumo 660 over the (Stereo!) Bluetooth connection in my helmet, and I can make/receive phone calls as well while riding (Although the sound quality for phone calls isn't the greatest, it's enough for a quick "Need you to get some milk on your way home", or "I'm running late, somehow my 40 mile commute became 200 miles today) type calls.)

One thing to look for if this is what you're wanting to do, make sure the GPS device has an MP3 player (And any radio options you might be interested in) and make sure the GPS handles at least Bluetooth 2.0. Bluetooth 1.0 is low fidelity mono, 2.0 is where they added higher fidelity and stereo. My beloved Zumo 550 was awesome, but it's only Bluetooth 1.0, and the music over it sounded horrible, that was the main factor in driving me to the 660...

I already have a couple of helmet mounted bluetooth systems connecting me to my iphone, I'm just wondering if a cheaper bluetoothed nuvi will communicate navigational directions to my helmet?  My GPS doesn't have to be waterproof because I have a waterproof case.

Yes, it does the spoken directions to the helmet, as well as phone calls and music.

(I prefer letting the GPS be the intermediary for all of it because it can prioritize. I.E. Spoken directions will pause the music, say the directions, then resume the music. A phone call will stop the spoken directions and pause the music until the call is finished, then resume both.)

I've had the 660 for a few months now and works well. I'm pairing it to my Scala G4 head set then paring it to my cell phone. I can listen to GPS directions, play mp3 music with it and make calls through the G4.

One thing I've found is when communicating with my buddies matching Scala G4 the GPS directions take priority. If we are having a conversation and the 660 needs to give me directions it will cut him off. He gets pissed but at least I dont miss the turn.

I have also found that if I am listening to music, I have to pause the tunes to make or receive a cell phone call or talk to my buddy. Still a very workable system.

Also really like the HD Rider Planner site, works real easy and down loads fast. http://rideplanner.harley-davidson.com/rideplanner/ridePlanner.jsp?nologin=1&locale=en_US&showSavedRoads=1

It is fast, but it's accuracy isn't too swift.

Think I'll stay with my Microsoft Streets & Trips.
