Hi all,

Getting ready to do an oil change and found (after checking every week) that the 5 quart jug of 15-50 Mobil 1 was actually on the shelf at Walmart.  I paid $26.22 for it (5.24/qt) which is a lot better than the parts store price of 8.75 a quart.  Thought you'd want to know to keep an eye out at your local one.

How many miles between oil changes do you like?

Do you change the oil filter at every oil change?

Theredark:
Thanks for the posting the Mobil 1 availability.  I haven't stopped at the local WalMart lately but wanted to purchase a couple of jugs as the jugs have not been available in my area for a LONG time.  My last change was to Rotella 6T but I preferr the Mobil 1.

For what it's worth, you don't need to defend your oil choice or maintenance schedule to anyone.

Thanks for posting, that's what I use and good to know. Last time I bought it from Wally-World it was under $22.00 for the jug Shocked
I've been buying it from K-Mart, although they don't offer the jug.

Coincidentally, I was on the Mobil Oil website today reading about this very topic.  The 5 qt jugs are exclusive to Wal Mart.  They went out to some stores starting last month, and should be in all stores by March 2012.

Looks like I'm changing my oil next March.  Smiley  It should be about time to then anyway.  I'll keep an eye out at my stores and see if they hit earlier.

Just got back from a short coffee run (60 mi.) ride that included WalMart.  No jugs of Mobil 1, 15-50 (or qts.) and no jugs of Rotella 6T or an empty space on the shelf for either.  WalMart sucks!  I can easily get the Rotella from the Shell jobber but not the Mobil 1.

Good price.  I saw it yesterday at Advanced Auto for over $8 / qt.

I went to "Walmart sucks" today to see what was available and the had stock on all the oil  products I have seen mentioned here. The Rotella t-6 was 6.54 / Qt.  and I picked up a 4 Qt of Mobil 1 turbo diesel truck 5w-40 to give it a try after the positive comments I have seen posted on this forum. The 4-qt. Turbo diesel truck was 26.33.  I usually use the Rotella T which seem to be about half as much as the T-6.

You might wanna reverse the order there.  Wink

The 15W50 is back at my Wal Mart too. I may go back to it in the spring for the Valk AND the Jeep.

Sorry about the late NAPA notice. Anyway they have it so keep an eye on those sales papers. I bought enough from NAPA and K-mart for around $5 a quart to last me for a few years. This is the first time I am running Mobil synthetic in the fat lady. So far I believe there is less wine noise. Tomorrow will be my first trip out with it running at highway speeds to know for sure. Pure One filter too.

Mobil 1 does seem to have the engine and tranny running a little quieter verses the 20w-50 Valvoline motorcycle oil I was using. I will check the gas mileage tomorrow after work when I fill up.

Very happy with the valvoline synthec 20-50 car oil. the valk is quieter than with the 15-50 mobil1
the local W_marts do not stock the mobil 1 15-50 ,or 20-50 any more .all they offer is the 10-40 high mileage and I really didn t like that one.they got lots of 0-30 wonder what the heck for?!!
on the good side the chirp chirp chirp sound of the old belts is gone. guess the tensioners where either too tight or too loose +the valve adjust and plugs cleanned the old valk has taken some new Wings Grin cooldude

If I wanted to stock up on the Mobil 1, how long can you reasonably store it in a cool, dry location?  Is there any kind of shelf life?

Good oil should last as long as you have your Valkyrie, especially if you store it like you say!

My closest Costco is 60 miles away in the next state.  The last time I was there they had no Mobil 1 products.  I will have to check next time.
