Someone suggested a poll about our DFW VRCC meeting place, so here it is.  These are spots in Grapevine we might meet at.  The requirements are

- there must be a separate meeting room
- we must be the only ones in the room (no double bookings)
- we must be able to move the tables around

Grapevine is the city because we have proven many times in our history that Grapevine is the city where we get the best attendance.  Dallas and Fort Worth are not good locations for our meetings.

The DFW VRCC is one of the few VRCC chapters that has regularly scheduled rides and monthly meetings. We want it to remain alive and active.  And your opinions are valuable.

This is a club where the membership, with their vote, can make changes.  So, Vote!

I like Joe's. Excellent food, good room and just need to remind the serverperson to turn down the sound system. Can also keep an eye on the bikes.

If it's Grapevine-only, based on the food and meeting room, I say Flips.

If it's Joe's-only, in addition to Grapevine there is one at I-35E & Northwest Highway, and one at I-35W & Western Center (north of 820, near Fossil Creek Golf Club).  The one in south Ft. Worth near Hulen Mall is closed for remodeling.

I'm new to the group and don't know if this has been tried, but how about a Joe's or No-Joe's rotation of Dallas, Ft. Worth, and Grapevine?  That way, those who are 1) closer to Ft. Worth or Dallas than they are to Grapevine, and 2) not currently attending because of distance would have 4 easier-to-attend meetings per year than they do now.  The mid-cities folks are not too far from any proposed meeting spot, distance is a friend to many, and perhaps those far from Ft. Worth or Dallas who might choose not to traverse the metro-mess might be replaced (in numbers) by those who now have meeting place "in their neighborhood".  The meetings might not be any bigger, but the overall participation might be.

If the rotation idea boils down to too many moving parts, I understand and will continue to ride to wherever the group meets.  I just won’t eat at Joe’s anymore.  No big deal.

If it’s not too many moving parts, I’ll put on my thinking cap and make some Dallas venue suggestions.

Dave:

History shows us the other cities don't work.  It also shows that we will have the meeting location discussion at least once a year, sometimes two.  Keeps the brain active.

We moved our meeting to a Fort Worth/Dallas rotating basis last year.  The people who said it was too far to go to Dallas for a meeting and lived in Fort Worth didn't come to the meetings in Fort Worth, for the most part.  The Dallas site got no participation from anywhere in the west.  We moved back to Grapevine and attendence improved to the level it had been when we left Grapevine before.

A rotating meeting schedule sounds like it would work but seems to be confusing for our group.  And, while the group can pick which meeting they go to due to location, our officers are required to be at each meeting.

So, during the current administration's tenure in office, we will strongly encourage only one location and that location should be in Grapevine.

Current poll results show no great preference among the choices, no one has selected "somewhere else" and the leading vote is "I don't care - I go to meet friends".

My last two meals at Joes were so good I was almost going to lick the plate.  Not sure what the issue was that you had, but hope you continue to attend the meetings if we stay at Joes.

As long as the venue is not called something like "Just Liver & Onions", I'll be there.  See you at Joe's Grapevine!

For those who don't know, we had one meeting in Allen/Richardson, two at Al Lambs, and the rest have been in Tarrant County, right?

It is a moot point to me, as I am getting ready to sell my Valk.   Cry  My arms are not liking moving it around, so I have purchased a 1997 Honda (Spirit), which is about 300 pounds lighter.  Unfortunately, at this point, I'm not sure I am going to be able to handle it either   Angry

Jean:

We had 6 or 7 meetings at Pappa's BBQ in Dallas as well.  Good food but no meeting room.  Attendance was also less than Grapevine.

Sorry to hear about the issues with the arthritis. I have a similar issue with my shoulders but so far, I can still ride without problems.  The Spirit is a nice bike.  Hope to see it on a ride soon.

And meetings in Plano at Spaghetti Warehouse (going back a ways) and at that place with the good catfish in Hurst or Richland Hills (the one Hollywood recommended).

Jean, regardless of what you ride, don't be a stranger. I know you can't make the meetings, but let's ride and eat together!

Jean, I don't know if you've been on the Can-Am Spyder, but Rose and I got to test ride those a couple months ago, and they were quite fun, easy to handle, and because of the three wheels, never have to be picked up!  Plus, they have a powered reverse gear, which is nice for when your body is rebelling against the things your mind says it should do.  It is a bit more expensive than a Shadow, but not much more than a Valkyrie.  It comes in automatic or standard transmission, too.  Richardson Motorsports at 75 and Beltline is a dealer.  So, maybe when the Shadow is too heavy to be fun anymore, you could go with one of these.  Smiley  Keep on coming out, for sure!

Well, it's a moot point for me to vote, as Redneck is on second shift at JB Hunt and always works Thursdays. I even asked Mr. Jim a couple times if he could come get me to attend, but it conflicted with another meeting he had, plus, I'm really out of the way.

It seems we will never have the attendance we want, as a couple Westsiders also didn't make the meetings at the Tuckers Catfish place. (  Richland Hills) the food was great, and even tho we had a slight problem with getting more catfish out, I had already solved that problem for the next meeting, but had even less people show up.

Having the Christmas party on a Thursday meeting night also s*****, but that was by vote, I did not influence that at all, just arranged the room for that night.
I totally agree we should have the Christmas party on a Saturday night, but somewhere we can all get to if the roads are icy (  NOT Al Lambs),or we  don't have to pay a toll to get to someones house. that is why we missed a couple parties, and wound up eating at Steak and Shake in my party dress! ( Yes, I do have one!)
DFW Chapter- that's a lot of territory to cover, and as some Eastsiders found out, 820 is also a nightmare! We love to ride,( I think Lemon Drop really was the farthest from  us all !)all of us and distance is really not an issue, except when you have to fight traffic to get there. We rode with the Freedom Riders from Grapevine to Decater on their Moonlight ride a couple Saturdays ago, and it was great! also, I have a new respect for " Wingers" they really get up and go! ( and yes, we had to ride at the back of the pack, even tho our pipes are not as loud as before!)

I won't even mention the "Polar Bear Ride" where I froze my buns off and

(THAT won't ever happen again! )lost my phone!

Would we ever consider a different meeting night? Does it have to be on a Thursday, even?

Maybe we could take a vote on that! Change the meeting night to  Friday or Saturday and maybe more people can come? I know we could make waaay more meetings that way! Maybe some others too! Could we have a "Breakfast meeting" then ride somewhere?
we could find someplace in Grapevine to accomodate us I'm sure!

Well, I'm just a "Princess Seat Rider" that hopes to see you all soon!  I miss you all!
