The trip home from Kerrville was mostly uneventful. A few areas of rain, light rain that wasn't unpleasant at all. Though I did pass a couple of bikes tucked up under bridges - been a LONG time since I've seen that!!
After I got on the Houston beltway, there came a sudden heavy shower. I was having trouble seeing, so I pulled off the freeway and prepared to pull into a conveniently placed Exxon station. There was just enough water on the road to remind me that with heavy rains come the potential for flash floods. I had to stop and wait for a car to clear the driveway, then ......... nothing. Traveler just died.

So there I was, sitting on a fairly busy feeder road (access road to folks from other areas), with a dead bike and trailer. I was able to push the bike and trailer up the driveway and off the road, at least until it came time for the trailer wheels to start up hill. No dice. So I unhooked the trailer and moved it, then went back to pushing the Interstate up the hill. Finally some kind men stopped and helped.
Bike still wouldn't start. I called a friend and he headed my way with a truck and trailer before I remembered to tell him I had the trailer behind the bike! OOPS! His trailer isn't wide enough or long enough for both. The poor trailer got lifted up partly on the front trailer rail, and lashed down very securely. By this time, whatever problem Traveler was having had subsided enough that we were able to start the bike and ride it onto the trailer, but I'm still glad I didn't try to ride those last 30 miles home.
All's well that ends well. I made it home safely, if a bit soggy.
