Couple of gas related questions

I just took the top end apart to clean the carbs. When I put it all back together no gas is flowing from the tank into the carbs. Checked all the hoses and they are clear. Petcock seems fine too. I'm a little confused by the hoses that connect to the petcock. My manual indicates a single gas hose, but I clearly remember removing two hoses. Does the smaller hose connect to the vaccuum fitting on the right side of the petcock, or to that inch long dong facing fitting behind the petcock? When I took the tank off the bike and sat it down (upside down) gas flows out of the rear fitting. Does that seem right? All advice is appreciated!! Thanks in advance everybody

The petcock has 1 fuel line and 1 vacuum line, the vacuum line connects to the right side of the petcock and the # 6 intake. The fitting at the rear of the tank is the tank vent, this line runs down the back of the motor. The vent line also has a T in it that should be open, make sure you don't kink this line when you install the tank, this allows air to get into the tank.
You probably got some fuel into the tank vent line and thats why it leaked some fuel when you set the tank down.

The petcock is vacuum operated. no vacuum+ no fuel. You may need to apply some vacuum to that like to initally fill the carb bowls to ease in startup ( esp. if your battery is on the weak side) usually sucking on the vacuum line for the petcock works for me ( unfortunately also a good way to see if your petcock is leaking. when you gat a mouthful of gas)
