Hey Oss Before you get your New York nickers in a knot, did you get a manual? Do you know how to work the squelch or set the CB volumn control or even use a CB? If you didn't get the book, just ask.I can send a file. Adrian

I believe the manual is where the rest are, Valkyrie Norway downloads page.
Doesn't the radio need to be set to headset, rather than speakers, before you'll hear anything, CB also, in your headset?

Alright my 2 cents. I once bought a cb for my 4 wheeler and had a similar problem had to buy a cord and antenna and the same thing...no workey. I was told by the guy at radio shack that you have to buy a special meter and "tune" everyhting as a unit. The meter was kinda pricey never did try to go anyfurther because I was broke. Not much has changed. Haha!

I had the same problem when I installed my CB. IRC, there's a 3 conductor connector involved, 1 is for ground and 2 are for 12v positive. One of the 12v pos conductors was dead. It turned out that the splice block on the bike's main wiring loom was failing. You should be able to test your connector for 2 12v circuits and 1 gound. If you don't have both 12volt circuits, you'll get the error message and won't hear anything. You should be able to search the archives for a fix for the splice block.

Another possible thought. There is a separate volume control for the CB. You have to have it in the CB position then adjust the volume for the CB.

Once upon a time I too had the ER message. There is likely nothing wrong with your radio. It isn't getting the required 12 volts.
You need a voltage meter.
Now pull your right side cover.
Locate the Blue 20 pin connector. At pin #3 harness side you will find a LT Green/Black wire, probe this wire and turn on the key switch, you should have 12 volts. If it doesn't you can splice in a jumper wire around the bad connection. This is a quick fix method.
Since doing this quick fix I have completed the splice block mod which solves this problem (and many other electrical gremlins) at the root cause.

ok
I took off the right and left cover and removed the battery
3 wires come off the cb one for antenna one for intercom one is the 2 red and 1 blue inside the black casing leading to a connector
I do not have anything to attach to that connector NADA
WTF
Well that certainly is not swoppies fault so I would be wrong to blame him
Where in the sam hill is that connector? checked in the boots, behind my compressor, where were yours laying when you put in your cb and attached to what loom>

Oss,
Remove right side cover, inside soft black boot, maybe deep inside, mine was, you should find a white female connector with a 12-14ga green wire, a 16-18ga red with yellow stripe wire, and a 16-18ga green with black stripe. That is what my cb is wired to ( 99 red & black I/S).
Hope this helps, if not I'm awaiting knee replacement on Oct 26 and could take a ride to help you out as I'm bored out of my mind.
cya, Stan

stan may have figured it out when I bought the bike I had the rivco air horns installed by the mechanic Stan told me that the connector is one of the 3 in that black boot which it appears that it feeds into my air horn. That connector feeds into two connectors that seem to be going to that horn tracing back there is a fuse feedin into the battery So if I disconnect it I lose my air horn which I cant do being how I drive in NYC Wish I had an aux fuse block on the bike then I could work around this but its pretty tight in that right cover Maybe the aux block could go in back of the battery? So thanks stan and good luck on the knee surgery If anyone wants to come over and install a aux fuse block I will buy dinner and pay for the parts I ordered the centech ap1 fuse block tonite

There was a member selling a new CenTech fuse panel a bit ago. They are about as small of a panel I've seen and are very well made. I have had one on my Valks for the last few years. If you can't fit it under the side panel, you could definitely run it up behind the battery.
