I bought a spare wheel several months ago with a car tire already mounted.  It is the exact same tire SmokinJoe uses.  I did a lot of research on car tires and, although I believe Joe's tire to be one of the best to use, I decided to go with a tire that most resembled the E3 I am currently using.  So I bought an Austone 175R70/16 tire.  The tread is 5.5 inches wide and it is 26.9 inches in diameter; less that an inch larger in diameter than my E3 and the tread about 1/2 an inch wider.  Here are a coupld pics to show the difference.

As you can see, the Austone is over two inbches larger in diameter than the car tire already mounted on my spare wheel.

This is a commercial  6 ply tire rated at 1640 pounds at v36 PSI.  So it should more than capable of handling any load I could place com my Valk.

A taxi tire  Undecided  What's it rated ? ( very high number I'm guessing....Could'nt find no #'s on it in a search ) I'd bet you'll never buy another tire that thing should last 100,000 plus miles ( say good-bye to your splines and pinion cup unless you plan to pull it every 10,000 to 12,000 miles ). I will say this Dubs I'd be careful throwing that hard compound tire into the curve's around here in fact this is just my opinion I would'nt ride it to the mailbox.....You got a deal on that Fuzion ZRi ....I'll take it  cooldude

I'm just gettin to the end of my car tire, ready to look at some other kind of car tire. That 70 tire looks Way too tall. Will it go wackin into the fender on hard bumps?

I'll be watchin this thread to see how it works out.

It is less than an inch taller than the E3 that is on my Valk now.  The Goldwingers have been running this tire for quite some time with great success.  It is rated for 99 MPH.  Which, for me, is fine.  Even riding vwith the Wild Bunch I've never exceeded that speed.  As for the twisties, we will have to try it and see.  Remember, you were told all you darksiders would crash and burn and you have ridden every kind of car tire imaginable.  Well, I'm trying one that our Goldwing friends have been riding and if it won't crash and burn on a Wing, I doubt that it will on my Valk.  As for the splines, I will pull the wheel once a year and check the bearings and lube the splines.  Just cause its the right thing to do.  Joe, I'l bring you the other tire when I get to feeling better.  Been under the weather the last couple days.

Hopefully, this Taxi tire will ride like a dream and handle like a sports car tire!   Smiley
Joe, let me know when you will be home and I will stop by and bring the tire for you.
