This was about as much fun as you can have with your clothes on......and thank goodness for the pod lights and the high beams on the I/S...... cooldude

I took six separate videos ~5mins each to make loading them onto You Tube easier....and now I can't remember what my password is...... Shocked Cheesy

I only am posting the first two of the ride from the store headed North.....I caught up to a car and the teenage looking boy driving it was NOT smart enough to pull over and let me by..... Angry.....so I pulled over, waited a while, and then caught back up to him pretty fast.......so I just rode to the overlook, got off looked at the BRIGHT stars in the sky, turned around and headed back South.....I made it about 3/4's of the way back to the store before catching up to some cars..... Sad......oh well.....it was fun while it lasted..... cooldude

First two North bound and down......

The last three segments headed back South.....thankfully NO animals ran out at me..... cooldude

I only ask just in case you did'nt return ....Someone would have known to go looking for you and I'm doubtful they would find you at night if you was down off a gorge or steep mountain hollow  Sad  .  As stated above we've done it at night several times but never alone ....It's a adrenaline RUSH that few could compare at night no doubt  cooldude

Yeah...Scooter told me when I got back that he SHOULD have had me pay them for my part of the cottage BEFORE I left....in case I didn't make it back.....that Abby might not reimburse him...... Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

I was prepared.....I had my long johns on....in case I went off and it got cold.... cooldude.....I decided to leave my "Super Hero" attire at the cottage....I figured the ambulance drivers might think it odd if they had to cut my pants off or something...... cooldude Cheesy

Seriously though, it wasn't that scary to me.....but I did get annoyed when that car headed North wouldn't pull over..... tickedoff

It's not scary it's fun but you got to admit it would suck being wrapped around a oak tree 50 yards down a bluff and hangin' there till death .

True....but that'd be the case with one person or 15.....night or day....beats having to dodge the crotch rocket boys in the daytime..... cooldude......they were at the store racing around a course they set up with those little dirt bikes...that looked fun too... cooldude

Stanley,

Very nice and clear audio and video. So many people who post motorcycle videos have awful audio tracks.

Congratulations,

Wow that's some nice shots, and +1 on the sound quality... no wind rushing sounds, just
Valkyrie motor sounds...

Great video Stanley. I'm with Joe being concerned though.  Don't you lose visibility with your headlights going around the curves?

My oldest son goes down to Deals Gap every year and rides it at night on his Pacific Caost.  I hope that he has company doing it.  I'll have to ask him.

Here in Indiana, we really have to be careful riding at night during the hunting season AND the corn is still up (forest rats).

A great video though!  That takes a lot of work and guts.  I couldn't do it.  Thanks.

I used the camera Santa brought me a few years ago...this one here...

http://store.kodak.com/store/ekconsus/en_US/pd/Z712_IS_Zoom_Digital_Camera/productID.146583400

I bought this type camera mount

http://www.ram-mount.com/CatalogResults/PartDetails/tabid/63/partid/082065077045066045050048050065085/Default.aspx

and a mounting arm like this....

http://www.ram-mount.com/CatalogResults/PartDetails/tabid/63/partid/082065077045066045050048049085/Default.aspx

and I just cleaned the windshield and tucked the camera behind the windshield.....nothing fancy or special.... cooldude

It's not so bad if you can use the bright lights.....and the pod lights help too, but you are still limited on the really tight turns as to how far you can see ahead......you have to slow it down some from a daylight run, of course.........getting caught behind some cars is like getting caught behind most of the hardleys on a daylight run....... tickedoff

Ooops......I posted that info to Mike below.....a simple set-up....and not a moto type camera like he uses.....

I did lose the lens cap the other night...I took it off so it wouldn't be flopping around and I thought I had it in my pocket, but must have laid it on the back seat or something??..... Embarrassed.....I have to get another one soon....wonder if any lens cover would work?.... Undecided

I've ridden the Dragon around a couple of dozen times... maybe half a dozen night runs(just the first time I ever video taped it)....and a few good daylight runs where you could run hard, but most of them sucked from getting caught behind slower folks....and then there are the zoom splats that will of course handle the curves better than our Fat Ladies....I ALWAYS move over for faster riders...whether it's night or day.....not everyone feels the same way I guess?... Undecided.......

Even in the daylight though, you really can't be "sight seeing" if you want to stay on the road....it'll bite ya hard!
