MotoGp rider Marco Simoncelli has sadly died in a horrific acceident in Sepang.
His bike low-sided and went into the path of Colin Edwards and Valentino Rossi on the sencond lap.

My thoughts go out to Simoncellis family and freinds along with Colin Edwards and Valentino rossi

Amazing that red ducati remained upright.

Tragic video.

But racing is inherantly dangerous.

We lost a great one to an Indy Crash.

God Bless his family and the racing family that will never forget.

Better to be judged by 12, then carried by 6.

I got lucky and worked on the track at the MotoGP in Indy one year. We were called body draggers. Cause thats what we did. When they crash, we run and grab them and take them to the side lines if they did not get up on their own. It was needed cause they do not stop the race when one crashes. What a rush as your working on the track and they fly by at a 100+ mph. Of coarse we are only in street gear, no protection.

That made my blood run cold and reminded me of an accidnet I saw years ago.

Guy on bike hit by car pulling out in front of him. I saw what I thought was the riders head rolling down the road. Luckily it was only his helmet. Weird stuff happens in accidents.

Looked like the helmet wasn't fastened to me. In slow motion you can see the free strap. Undecided

.

One of the first reports I read said his helmet had come off and you can see that in the video.  Pretty bad and wish I hadn't seen that

sad.  my heart goes out to his family.

watching the video it looks like he died instantly when that one cycle nailed him in the back of the neck with it's front tire.  seeing his body sliding down the track was painful to watch.

Whatever it is, it's better in the wind.

I watched him come up through the ranks from the 125cc up to GP, he and Valentino were good freinds and from what I saw on the video I think Valentino is the one that took the helmet off on impact.
I do not think that the helmet was not strapped, it looked more like it broke on impact, if you look at the helmet as it flies past Colin, you see that the whole strap is flapping on one side, like it broke off from the other side, and the impact very well could have broken the strap.
Hell of a way to go, but he died doing what he loved...
