I own a 99 Valkryie that I do not ride enough.  It now starts and runs on 4 cylcinders.  Can you guys refer me to someone to tune/clean/sync the carbs.  I promise to ride it more and stay off the Goldwing. I live in Dallas/Ft. Woth area.  I looked on Craigs list and Steve Wagner from Sacshe pops up? Any comments?  Call me on 817-939-4032 if any thoughts.

I cant vouch for any mechanics other than the ones who go to the wrench parties.  I'm no mechanic or even close to an expert, so I'm not sure how you can tell its only running on 4 cylinders.  Though I know one good place to start would be put some Seafoam or Berrymans and ride the dog out of it for a while.  At least a tank or 2 full and check for any improvement.  That would be the cheapest option.

You could call around to some of the local dealerships or independent shops, but make sure they have experience with at least the goldwings.

Other than that I would say bring it over to a wrench party sometime.  We are able to sync the carbs usually and others swear by seafoam or berrymans.  As far as any jetting or carb cleaning, I myself wouldnt have the foggiest.

We tried everything possible on a 03 std to get the carbs right.  Finally took the bike to Xanders Cycles in Forney.  He charged me $190 to go through all six of those bad boys, clean and re-jet, sync, etc.  Mileage went up by 10mpg and she no longer puffs smoke and soots up the pipes.  Power like it is supposed to be.  I have no financial interest in this shop.  Brent has always done me a good job at a fair price.  Several others have used him too.

Thanks for referral.  It is running on four cylinders I think when you pull plug wire, hear fire but do not hear difference in rpm.  Appears left bank is hitting and one on right.  Will call Xanders and try Berryman and or Seafoam.

Went up from what to what Doc?  I'd be willing to spend $190 to get 10 MPG better than the 32 I currently get.

I average about 30, I get less than 30 between freeway fill-ups on trips running 80-85ish indicated.

Same here 28-30 if riding by myself, 28-30 group riding with Valkyries on the super slabs and a headwind, 38-40 in Colorado and 35-38 group riding with other bikes like HD. 2funny 2funny Everyone of those rides puts a smile on my face! cooldude

VP is correct.  Went from low 20s to low 30s where she should be.  Significant improvement.

Took a ride yesterday after the Valk sat for 6 months. Put in fresh gas and half a can of sea foam. Rode at 60 to 65 mph for about 180 miles and got 40 mpg. The bike has been desmogged, a K&N air filter and Cobra 6 into 6 exhaust, the rest is stock. The pilot screws are turned out 2 1/2 turns and the carbs are well synched. Life is good.  Cool
