Among a few other mods I'm currently wroking on, I'm in the process of refinishing a IS Tank for my 99 STD.  I ride solo and I am planning on upgrading to a Russell Day Long seat.  I know there will  be an interference with the IS tank and the STD seat.  I've talked with RDL and they do not modify seat pans - only build their seat on the existing pan - pan mods are up to me.

I've seen on other threads where folks have lived with the seat "bunching-up" over the tank or cut slits in the STD pan to allow the nose to flex over the tank but I'm not sur I'm sold on those options, yet.  Has any one tried to trim down the nose to get a cleaner line with the Tank? (Details?)

I've considered picking up a stock IS seat off the net and cuting it down to a solo but am not sure if that would be compatible with the attachement hardware.  Has anyone tried  this option?

Thanks in advance,

Sambeaux

I have a Russell Day Long on my std. with an IS tank.  There is NO problem with it.  It does not come up the back of the tank like the OEM does, so there is NO interference between the two of them.

Highbinder has Russell seats on his bikes, including (I think) a superValk... hopefully
he'll see this and say what kind of pan he uses...
