True story: had a World Series game been held in Boston last night it would have been snowed out.

for cryin out loud weather service just said 8-12 here in the hudson valley

Bonnie and I have to go downtown Manhattan we were given tix to a play by our in laws
that starts at 8pm
Looks like we will take the metro north from the Ossining waterfront as it will be only 3 miles or so up the hill vs 40 miles of unplowed roads at night in a heavy wind driven snowstorm

So time to gas up the snowblower   Undecided Undecided  and put those fixed pieces back in the
baker air wings

I am not ready to see this tomorrow if the wind blows drifts in front of the garage

Update:
More than 1.7 million customers lost power from Maryland north through Massachusetts, and utilities were bringing in crews from other states to help restore it. Half a million were without power in New Jersey, including Gov. Chris Christie, who declared a state of emergency. Throughout the region, officials had warned that the early storm would bring sticky snow on the heels of the week's warmer weather and could create dangerous conditions.

And the storm was expected to worsen as it swept north. The heaviest snowfall was forecast for later in the day into Sunday in the Massachusetts Berkshires, the Litchfield Hills in northwestern Connecticut, southwestern New Hampshire and the southern Green Mountains. Wind gusts of up to 50 mph were predicted especially along coastal areas.
A spokesperson for Southern NH, Vil E. Anvile, stated that the area was ready for mother nature's worst.

OK.  So Vicky (the Valk) is away for the season.  The snow is falling and it will be waiting for me in the driveway in the morning.  I was having a grumpy evening then ... The kids came home with my brand new grandson.  Emmett Angelo Mc was born on the 26th.  Perfect health (as is my daughter-n-law).  I held him, fed him, burpped him, rocked him and handed him off to daddy to change him and put him to bed.

Gimme your best Mother Nature... you cannot dampen this Papa's spirits this weekend!!

Well it started snowing here in Connecticut around 12:30 this afternoon. Power went out around 5 pm. Been living on a generator and my MyFi Hot spot. No cable, no phone (other than cell) and no Hi speed internet (other than the Wan card). Sad

I'm thinking this may be a long outage of power since so many are affected. After Irene we were without power for a six days. At least we have a generator. Big difference is now we have a bunch of snow, and it's freezing outside, so keeping the house warm will be a problem for many.  Sad

I guess next year I may need to go south in mid October to miss the winter.  Roll Eyes

Three huge branches in the pool on or thru the winter cover

used the fireplace last night its  a  balmy 51 degrees in here now

woohoo

8-12 inches depending where in the yard you stand and its wet and heavy

will probably lose power later as well

hope you all get your power on soon.

Lucky me, I did not loose power at all.  New York State Electric and Gas keeps the trees well trimmed up here.
For those of you with out, hope power comes back soon.
Please be careful with the generators, fired up only in a well ventilated area, and no fair back feeding though the range or dryer outlet!
  Be safe and warm.
