Last night I got a call from Phil "Green Dragon" and he's about saving orphaned and old motorcycles.
I met Phil and Lupe (Turtle Dove) in Bellaire at last years at INZANE. He and Lupe won the fuel mileage challenge, two-up in an I/S.

He is building a GL1100 bobber and his vision of what a custom bike is to build a practical and reliable motorcycle that you can really ride. He is not building a "Rat Bike", but a fun, practicle bike that will handle the area in which he rides (the Rocky Mountains front range).

We as an enthusiast organization should embrace the longevity and technology that our old Valks, GWs, VTXs, etc. and should look at the bikes in our sheds, garages, carports, or under a tarp.

Everyone can profit from saveing our old bikes. Even if you are not mechanically inclined, there are others out there that would buy a bike if they are reasonaly priced, or getting some buddies together on a Saturday afternoon to help and throw out some ideas.

Lets make us all better bikers by keeping in touch with our bikes and brothers.

Peace

Not a Bobber, but was a fun task.
I resurrected this one the beginning of the year, sat in a barn for 18 years, pretty sad to start with. Did a total restoration on it. Sweet little bike now, love puttering around on back roads with it.

As I found it. Still had the 1991 tag.

After a few months of work. One of the few 450 cc automatics built.

Life is like a hot bath. It feels good while you’re in it, but the longer you stay in, the more wrinkled you get.

I just noticed that Green Dragon has his GL1100 bobber in the Classifieds with pictures.
It is a BOBBER not a RAT BIKE.

Dogg,
I've always thought the later V65/V45 Magnas were great fodder for recycling into practical, reliable, and inexpensive BOBBERS (not Rats).

Eventually the economy will rebound and people will be looking for inexpensive, unique, fuel efficient transprtation/toys.

With the technical resourses of the entire VRCC, and this clubs enthusiasm, we could be riding the crest of a new wave. Don't believe it?....just look at the HD Blackline, Shadow Phantom, Triumph Thunder Storm, and so many more.
