Hello all,  Just got my firsty Valkyrie this weekend.  Towed her back on a trailer in the Pa. snow storm last weekend.  Got her parked in a heated garage w/ my mechanic for the winter.  It's a '98 w/ 65,000 miles on her.

I was shocked to see the rough condition she was in !  Rust spots, wear & tear etc but not too awful bad but definetly not in pristien condition.  We get what we pay for.  It was only $ 2,800.  An old Valk is better than no Valk in my book.  As long as she stays up & running next riding season for me.

So, besides an over all tune up, what do I need to do to assure she keeps running good.  The rear end of the shaft & pinion should be pulled, cleaned and well lubed w/ new seals right ? !  Can I order the seals through a Honda dealership ?

If there's any other helpful prevenitive maintenance tips I should be aware of PLEASE give me a heads up....Thanx so much.

I'm also looking for new side covers below the seat, where can I find them to order & where do the chrome ones come from ?

Also looking for fiberglass saddle bags w/ chrome on them too.  Can't seem to find a supplier yet, anyone know where to look ??

Thanx for the help mates,

Classifieds here and Fleabay are good places to look for used parts and accessories.

As for maint. (winter or otherwise) same as any vehicle.

If you are not going to ride it this winter then drain the carbs, drain and oil the gas tank or clean it and fill it completely to inhibit rust.

Yes pull the rear and check, clean and lube.

As you have time this winter clean and check everything you can.

Change all fluids unless you know they were recently changed.

Read past post here for maint tips and things to service.

Look forward to spring.

That was the Valkyrie in Allentown on Craigslist correct?  Looked like a good buy to me.  Good luck with it.
