My first crisp morning ride of the season. Just under 32degrees when I headed for work at 5:30AM. Only a 25 minute ride, a jacket, helmet and gloves are still all the cold weather gear I need in the morning. Riding glasses and my work uniform sufficed on the ride home. Another gorgeous fall day with the leaves blowing across the road and the sky lookin’ amazing on the way home as Little Martha hit 90,000 miles. Roughly 85,000 have been added by me since I bought her in July of 2004.

And there’s still not another bike made as far as I know that I’d rather have. Lots of bikes I’d like to “also have” but none I’d rather have.

The weather sounds like what I had yesterday.  On the other hand, my ride in the morning was pretty eye opening.  Traffic into town was moving at 65mph, then stopped.  I applied the brakes, but the back a little too hard.  The rear tire went into a skid for a few moments, and I backed off of it in time to slow down for the pack of parked cagers.  I didn't panic, the heart didn't jump.  I just had a few words on the way slowing down, but after control was recaptured I moved right along with the traffic that found it's way again.  The ride home was fantastic as always.  Looking forward to more today, and a little more cautious and a lesson learned without injury.

You are right about the cold and tires. Here in Minnesota if i hit the gas on a turn things happen. Got the pucker factor leaving work last night. Its even worse if there is painted stripes or crosswalk.
