I just received some baker air wings and I discovered I have two different sized bolts for the engine guard...The left side was a 12mm head...(and it was not able to be tightened)...black head matching the other bolts..On the right side was a silver head, 13mm size....this unscrewed and went back in just fine....
I'm guessing the left side might be stripped?? It starts going in ok, but then starts slipping. So, the engine mount is a bit loose...It's not going to fall off, but obviously in this condition am not able to mount the left air wing. But it will be a great way to test the effectiveness for a while!!
Any suggestions boys??

Whenever I have pulled one bolt off the guards I have had a devil of a time getting them lined back up and the bolt back in (with no help holding the bars in position). I have partially stripped one as a result....I just torqued the thing down anyway. I have since learned it is better to loosen all of one side when messing with them. Get a proper OE size bolt and put it back in the lose one. You may have to chase some threads.

Ok, is 8x16 a special "honda" bolt.....What size should I look for?? I'm sure something must be available "in the drawer" at Lowes, etc... Or is it a big secret??

If the old one has some threads still there should be no problem taking to a hardware store and matching it.
I'd suggest ordering the bolt from the Honda dealer. Can't be too expensive and it would be the correct bolt.

I had trouble mounting my AirWings too. Ended up getting a slightly longer chrome bolt from Ace so I had adequate threads to engage before tightening down.

Honda's is fancy chrome..... go to the hardware and get an 8 by 16 Stainless.... it doesn't matter what head it has... only you will know it doesn't match the others.

As someone else stated, run a thread chase into the bolt hole to clean up the threads. If it's still loose, I wrap the bolt with Teflon tape which will take up some of the slack in the threads. Just be careful not to over torque the bolt which would damage the threads even more.

There is an important point in the suggestion to chase the threads.
USE A THREAD CHASE
Using a tap (or die) simply cuts the parent material which you don't want.
A chase will push things back where they belong without removing material.
