As a reminder, many businesses take the opportunity to show their appreciation for Active Military and Veterans on/around Veteran's Day (November 11th).

AppleBee's honors Active Duty and Veterans with a free meal on Veteran's Day. http://www.applebees.com/menu/vetsday

Golden Corral has their Military Appreciation Monday free meal for Active Duty and Veterans on Monday November 14th http://www.goldencorral.com/military/

There are many others that offer something similar, but these are the two that I frequent. If anyone has other recommendations or information.... feel free to post it up and share ....

And to all the Active and Veteran Military..... from one Vet to another..... Thank You for your service.

Yup a good day to show appriceation. I am throwing an early Thanksgiving dinner for the Vets and Seniors of my church on the 11th.  We have 2 WW2 Vets, both are getting frail and I am afraid this may be the last year for one of them.  Have been doing it for a number of years now and its a total blessing watching how much they enjoy getting togeather, and believe me those good folks can eat.   Last year we had 80, but have lost a few, so dont know how big the turnout will be this year.

Went on a veterans day ride today to Gainsville Mo. While i appreciated the greetings the music the parade and the reading of the active military from that county presently serving i was more than a little sad to notice this. We had a high school choir sing the national anthem. They did a very good job. The sadness you ask-after the high school choir left-a quick poll found that the YOUNGEST person present was 58 years old. Granted it was windy cold(49 degrees F) and overcast. But we had war II vets that were not complaining right up to the sand box vets and all points inbetween. Ah well rant off and i apoligize. Thanks vets from another vet. RIDE SAFE.
