Made it in a few hours ago. Left out Wednesday and got 1486 miles garage to garage. I passed a large time getting there and one of the BEST TIMES EVER THERE!!!!!
Looking at the radar yesterday, it looked like the further south I could get, the better, so I dropped down to Montgomery on a nice sweeper road and took the slab to Mobile and when I got to Mississippi, the bottom dropped out!!!! One of those pull your glasses off, you can't see through the windshield and you can't see the tail lights of the semi in front, so you just follow his rooster tail for 18 miles. Pulled over and talked to the wife and she said that it was bad all the way down I-10, so I stayed in Ocean Springs, Ms last night and except for pulling over once to let a squall pass, was dry the whole way home. I never had to pull out the rain gear once this trip.
AWESOME TIME UP ON THE MOUNTAIN!!!!!!! Got to see old friends, make new friends and even found some new extended family - great food, great rally - a REAL BLAST!!!!!!
Thanks to anyone and everyone that put this on!!! It was the best ever.
I will post a ride report with pictures, but just got home.
Oh yeah, most of the whiskey bottles left on the sidewalk were mine. I couldn't take them with me and they were for anyone that wanted them. I left a couple and they were stacked neatly by a post on the front sidewalk. Also, we did party on the sidewalk in front of the rooms and I know that every room on that side of that part (upstairs and downstairs) were VRCC, so it would be our own that complained about the noise at night. I also know that Pam policed the entire area Saturday morning after Friday's festivities. I left out as soon as I saw the radar on Sunday - didn't even have time to shower, so I don't know about the ground Sunday, but I sure wasn't stepping on any cans getting to the bike. Perhaps the hotel could put out a trash bin on the weekend that we are there - just a thought.
I also never saw a motorcycle on the sidewalk. Unless there was one heck of a party on the other side of the hotel, I hate to say it, I think this is another case of Ashville's "We got a biker terrorist gang here".
Actually, I thought we were good.
I apologize, but you know me.....unless someone wants to shuttle us at 2:00 am from the lodge....ummmm....well.......you know....We tried to be good - we really did. Next time I will bring JP with me and when I get back at 10 or whatever, I promise to watch John Wayne movies with him...

Maybe next year, the hotel can let us go out by the drained swimming pool so we don't disturb guests. Heck, two years ago, we had a rent a cop threaten to kick us out of our rooms and kick us off the mountain - with the top full of fog and in a rain storm at midnight. Even the waitress in the restraunt complained the whole time (this year) at the Friday dinner about she was doing the best she could but they didn't expect this many people!

Oh well, I promise to be good in the future.....

Well, I KINDA promise to be good.... Well, I promise to be the best I can be......

Anyway, it was a BLAST FROM THE PAST and the best Cheaha yet!!!!! Thanks again to everyone who put Cheaha together - it was great!
I will post more later!
YEEEEEEEEHAW CHEAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had a blast!
