Here is my take on that..... I am sure you have seen extended swingarms on those bikes, and those are more or less race bikes.  The longer swingarm, and in this case the rear wheel, is used to prevent the bike from coming up in front and putting more power to the rear wheel.  At least that is what I was led to believe......

Hey, relax people.

However, I'd say it is a drag bike and he wants to get more rubber on the ground to keep from losing traction.
