Rode to work under a nearly full moon this morning an hour or two before daylight. A clear sky, a big moon and crisp 34 degree air. I must have looked at the weather wrong because I hit sleet and hail on the way home. Enough to blanket my windshield and faceshield and enough to make me wave a cager I'd passed a few miles before on around me cause I was going fast enough.

The bad weather was kinda fun but now I gotta find time to clean up the scooter before gun season comes in this Saturday.

I'm willing to bet you read the weather right but that it was wildly inaccurate. I mean weather prediction has always been something of a black art, but it seems like they're wrong (and I mean REALLY wrong) a lot more than they used to be.

I did the same thing, rode from east end of Louisville to Southern IN this morning, great ride, and around 3:30 pm it started rain/sleet/snowing.  It was weird for sure.  It was a mix of snow and hail.  It was solid and lasted on the ground for a few seconds until melting, but it didn't bounce like hail.  I didn't get to ride in it though.  It finished up before I left around 4.  Oh, the 30 mph gusts over the bridge were exciting too.  I'm glad traffic was backed up so I could go slower.  crazy2

My scoots been up for the winter when we returned from the Ind fall ride.  Undecided Sat a week or so then went to town for gas and right back into her spot in the corner. It will be uncovered this March for 2012 maintence.  Embarrassed To much work this fall to ride anymore.

Shoulda rode up to the bbq in late sept. We hit sleet in Peru Ind.  Shocked Thought it was heavy rain but after munching on a few chips, it was ice.  Undecided

No disrespect intended but, when I lived in Bloomington, Indiana I thought there was only three good months of weather out of the whole year.

i know what you're saying!  i'm planning on visiting my brothers this weekend in chicago, one is having surgery to remove a tumor from his brain, and i was planning on taking the bike, but they're saying a 40% chance of rain on sunday for my return home.  don't think i want to chance it, you never know when that rain might turn to snow, and the way the predicted the last snow storm, i don't think they've got a clue on what we MIGHT get!!

None taken, we do have some interesting weather. The hot/humid days are my least favorite. I ususally manage to ride at least once or twice a month even through the winter. Last year was an exception, I think at one point I was 60 days or more without riding.

From 1977 to 1984 I spent almost every other two weeks down there working on the Marble Hill Nuclear plant.  I had an apartment in Jeffersonville Ind. and I remember how often there was black ice on the roads.  I remember seeing the semi’s on I-65 moving slowly up the ramp to I-71 as their drive tires were spinning on the black ice.  At night it was difficult to detect that black ice until it was too late.  We ran up Ind. Route 62 to the plant and I remember it as a nice scenic road.  It snowed about three inches one night and the only ones who showed up for work at the plant were those of us who were from Chicago.  The locals thought that was too much snow and stayed home.
