Seems that a apartment complex in Springfield Or. did not want a 70 year old Navy Veteran to display his U S Flag in the common area. tickedoff They have since relented. uglystupid2 My question is why was it an issue in the first place?? The Flag was the one the U S Army sent him after his fathers death. His dad is/was a War II vet. I do not know how to post a link but i know there be board members that do. cooldude My thanks to that 70 year old Navy vet and his father. cooldude RIDE SAFE.

My pleasure...

What's really a sad commentary on society these days is that, while stories like this still get me mad, they don't surprise me anymore... at all... Sad

Thanks guys and gals.
The folks who need it explained have no concept of the depth and breadth of what it means. Probably incapable of it anyway. Appreciation isnt in their makeup.
Everyone else, on the other hand, youre welcome.

Today on Veteran Day I'm trying an experiment. I'm wearing my KWVA garrison cap with the KWVA , unit badge, and the US Army insignia.  It is NOT the baseball cap.

I've been to my credit union and the eye glasses store so far, nary a word of any kind.

Going to the Eye Doc office next.  I'm not doing this to get a free lunch, just trying to get people to know this day.

Thanks to all that served!

"A veteran is someone who, at one point in his/her life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America," for an amount of "up to and including my life."  That is Honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it." - unknown

One of my favorite quotes.

WoW` I posted earlier on this thread telling about the lack of response to Veterans Day. I then went to the eye clinic for post cataract surgery exam. There were four other vets in the waiting room.  I know because they asked.  We all got a tote bag with a windbreaker jacket, a coffee mug, a real yellow  rose, and our picture taken and given to  us, along with a "Thank you for your Service'.

I then went to the hearing aid clinic for batteries  (get the pattern here? Grin) where they also thanked me for my service.

All is not lost!

The important part is that good sense prevailed and he was allowed to display it. You will find idiots everywhere you go. That should surprise no one. If it does you need to get out of the house more often.
