I removed the rear wheel an drive shaft yesterday to check it out .I last did it 9000 miles ago but since the weather is so crummy  I figered why not.The pinion cup an splines were well lubricated with grease an oil .the little holes that seep oil into the pinion cup work good  Shocked I also checked the u joint splines  good shape also as was the drive splines .About a two hour job .I will need rear wheel bearings soon so that is next on my list along with front shock
rebuild an steering head bearings. Just normal maintenance after 130000 miles.A small price for a great bike don't you think?

It's a good feeling when you find everything well lubed when you tear it down. You know it was done right and removes any worry about it's condition.
This past spring I had a fork seal starting to leak. Thought I would limp by I didn't have any trips planned. About a month later the other side started sympathy leaking Smiley. I have done a few different makes of forks so I jumped in having not done any inverted (is that their name?) forks.
Changed the bushings, seals, oil and put it back together with the original springs. It's a completely different handling bike. That was at about 75 K my numbers are in the garage.
