Hi

Finally started my bike today, and it came right on, but fuel is pouring out of one of the two hoses that rest in the carbs rail that come from the air rail,   I'm stumped, any advice would

be appreciated

Thanks

1 or more carb floats not working correctly, (not stopping gas flow) allowing the continuous flow of fuel. Carb cleaning time. Also check the condition of the float valve(hardened or contaminated)i and gas tank (rust)
Be extremely careful your bike is now  has the potential to 'hydro lock' and break things on startup.

Possible blown head gasket, do a compression test and leak down test.
Observe the opened radiator for air escaping.

Float stuck on the side that is pouring fuel on the engine.  Sorry, best bet is take the carbs out and clean them up.  Pay close attention to the floats of course and make sure they are moving freeely.  I usually bech test them with a spare tank to make sure they all stop flowing fuel.

Yeah, that is what I was hoping, but its green and smells and taste like radiator fluid. The bike has been sitting for five years or so, I pulled and cleaned the carbs, but obviously missed something, but nothing I did up there could have caused radiator fluid (a lot) to come pouring out the exhaust. I think that's got to be a head gasket, didn't think they would go bad just sitting but I guess they do, I will do a compression test and re pull the carbs bank, looked clean after I was done with it, but u obviously missed something, thanks for the input

As a positive note, it did run...briefly, and it sounded awesome, I'm just a little down, must have put 40 hours or better into it, and did something wrong, and now something near catastrophic lol, I'll get it though

Pull all your spark plugs before doing anything, don't want to accidentally turn it over and lock it up. If you haven't pulled the carbs yet, do this check: open each bowl drain one at a time and see how much fuel you get from each one(use a clear container). If one float needle valve isn't closing like it should it will have more fuel in it than the rest. Not much, but enough to see a difference. Be sure to empty your glass container after each draining.

Alright, took all day, but no longer leaking fluid into exhaust, and I managed to unstick the float in the carb, number 5,  and even rode it down to the gas station to fill up Cheesy. Smoking a bit out the tail pipes, probably the techron, and every so often there is an audible tick/burble, but I think after I sync the carbs and run it a while this will be one more ball on the road  Grin

I may need to adjust carb settings and shim the needles but don't know yet, just in case, does anyone know of a shop around Orlando with a good dyno/tuning setup

Again, thanks for all the advice and input, see yall on the road

Justin, glad to hear you have it up and running. I'm in Winter Park, have never used any local shop for any tuning, I'd suggest riding it for a while and let some of the bugs work themselves out. If you want to check the sync I have the meter to do it with, plus the tool to adjust the pilots if so desired. If interested shoot me a note, no problem either way.

agree with you John.....i'd run several more tanks heavy dosed with techron before synch or any other "tuning".

Hey John, I raised 3 girls and 2 boys, does that equate to 4 girls experience?

Hey John

I'll probably take you up on your offer once I've run this thing a while.  It's handling good, and really goes when I gas it, but the are some noises that I can't account for, most notably a small intermittent pop out from the right side exhaust, seems to be the number 5 cylinder, which was the same one that the float stuck on.  It's sporadic, but does occur at multiple rpm ranges. Doesnt sound like any misfire I have ever heard before,

I'm gonna keep working on it till I get it right though
