Fudgie, I didn't say I was against open carry, I just don't do it myself because I don't want other people to know I am armed. I open carry when I hunt cause I don't care if critters know I 'm after them. As for an ego boost, nuthin wrong with that, it is one of the reasons I ride a Valkyrie. At least wish me a happy festivus if I don't get a christmas card, OK? Hoser I was just kiddin with ya. Happy holidays. Well, Happy Festivus to you, too. I knew you was kidding. Hoser

I won't open carry. I try to remain in the background, not 'in your face' . I did carry openly while hunting. It's obvious that anyone you meet there is of the same mind and is carrying some form of firearm. I had a neighbor that openly carried. Since I knew the neighbor well, it made me uneasy to see him and his son carry openly.
As far as Democrats are concerned, there have been Democrats that were pro gun and even helped our cause. There also are Republicans like Indiana Senator Lugar who professes to be progun but his record indicates otherwise,
The NRA is our friend ,warts and all. I'd rather have them over react than under react. If I considered myself perfect, maybe then I wouldn't be a member of the NRA. I make my judgement based on their information but not before I try to check the facts.

However, I agree. And my reasoning is that you don't want the criminal to KNOW you are carrying. It gives him MORE of an already unfair advantage.
The element of surprise is your friend.
There are situation when a firearms presence can calm a situation without ever being drawn. A uniformed officer showing up at a domestic violence call just for an example. But for the average person it's a greater advantage to have as many "unknowns" on your side as possible.

I have two things, first someone sent me this video and with an open mind I watched and thought it was interesting. I know behind every good man is a good women and how they can influence there decisions. The point is the people that pass laws like the second amendment and how they may be influenced. Second I was at a coffee shop and started talked to a bee farmer and we got on the subject of gun control. He brought it to my attention about ammo. What they want to do is give ammo a shelf life of 90 days. So after 90 days the ammo is useless and won't fire, a concept like cigarettes if you don't puff on it it goes out. So if they can't control the guns they will control the ammo. Is this true about the ammo!!!!

That is disturbing on so many levels, it's not even funny. Even though I had to laugh when I saw the stockpile. (Stockpile for...what?) I hope you don't smoke in there. I hope those zombies do show up some day and justify it all.

No guys, it's real for somebody, but not MY garage (I don't have a garage).
I keep a pretty good supply (and reloading equipment and supplies), but not that good.
Now if I could afford belt-fed weapons, then I could afford the garage AND the ammo dump.
However, there's nothing disturbing in a law abiding citizen stockpiling ammo. Given today's lousy market and today's ammo prices, it's as good an investment as gold, silver or other hard commodities. Looks to be $40-50K worth of self defense in there.

I just like to shoot and buy while it's cheap.
