I have started to try and counter all the right wing rhetoric that I have seen on the boards. ( the teach bords are better ) Funny thing is when ever someone has a convincing argument to the contrary, the post gets deleted. not really . If you are going to use this board to promote your political view, at least stick it out. There are good ideas on both sides. We are not enemies. We are Americans! Lets save whats left of this county from the global corporations that are making paupers of us all!

I find that when a concise, well-reasoned argument backed by easily verifiable facts is presented, either that particular argument is ignored or arbitrarily discounted, or the thread fizzles out because those who continue to argue contrary positions know they would look like idiots.

Why would you start out by calling out right wing rhetoric? And then try to finish by saying we're all Americans and that corporations are to blame. You may get better results by not insulting half the population in your opener. The ones who see things as a Republican vs Democrat are the ones most blind to what's really going on and are falling for the scam. Sorry, but we're NOT all Americans. There is a growing population in this country who simply don't much care for the US and want to fundamentally change it. Some even feel perfectly justified to occupy others public and personal property. They feel they have a right to it because they exist. Who knows, maybe they'll occupy the house for sale down the street from you and expect you to pay their way.
I work for a global corporation. Apparently we're not the flavor of this regime because we're getting taxed to point of making any and all growth go off shore. Obviously I don't work for GE. But our global corporation is made of many thousands of loving, caring, thoughtful people in all 50 states, we're on every continent and in most countries. I've met and worked with the number 1 man who's in charge of the US operations. A nicer, more decent person you couldn't find.
Be careful of your broad brush there Thespian, it's sure to get you messy as well.

If you do work for a globe company, I doubt you have any Idea of there agenda. I am just as sure that some of the people that you work with are decent people, but that's not the the issue. Our government has been taken over by corporate interests. (see citizen's united) A nice catchy name for, corporate control of our electoral system. Unlimited money from any corp, no mater who is the CEO. or share holder. ??? The one true solution is much like what mother England has in place. A limited campaign schedule ,and publicly funded race's. Take BIG MONEY out of government! PS right wing rhetoric Is what I see the most here, Where have you been? ???

Funny thing is when ever someone has a convincing argument to the contrary, the post gets deleted. not really . By beginning your comments with a blatant lie and then winking to say, "I was only kidding," you've ruined your credibility with me. It's likely irreparable.
Just as an observation, when I first came to this board several years ago it seemed all the political rhetoric posted was left wing or liberal. Of course, that was when George W. Bush was president of the United States. From my view it appears that the ones most politically vocal tend to be those most opposed to whatever appears to be the current side in power. It also may be that we notice most the invalid arguments of those who are so ignorant as to be unable to see what is so glaringly obvious to ourselves. (Still need that tongue in cheek font)
As someone has wisely pointed out, we are NOT all Americans here. It pains me to see us airing (or erring) our dirty laundry here for others to see. What must they think of us?
As an aside, I'm probably more picky than most, but you'll find your points carry more weight if you take the time and effort to spell simple words correctly. Could someone from Admin please eliminate this stupid ass post? I accidentally opened it and read it. Please save other members on this forum from making this mistake. No, but please feel free to use the ignore feature if someone has demonstrated to you that his thoughts are not worth your time. I, unfortunately, feel obligated to review all postings.

"As someone has wisely pointed out, we are NOT all Americans here. It pains me to see us airing (or erring) our dirty laundry here for others to see. What must they think of us?" Meh. I wouldn't worry about it. For one, this group, like any group of individuals, is a microcosm of society at large. Same views, divisions, arguments are in the news and blogs etc.. Secondly, it is not a purely internal or domestic issue most times. Like it or not what happens in USA impacts the rest of the world. What I find amazing is this magical transformation into non-political beings, found in, say, the Tech board. The guy who ticked you off in General over some convoluted thread is your bestest bud in Tech, giving friendly, non-judgmental advice and helping you to no end. Weird, huh? No absolutes, for me, at least. Some guy who made you think "Why, that pinko commie!" or "Wow, what a mouth-breathing cretin!" will most likely be a great person to toss one back with around a campfire and that you'd actually like in person. The pot-stirring threads are fun, albeit ones that cause a spike in the admins' workload. Just look at the number of hits on some of them!

My opinion, worth what you're paying...
The answer ain't in either the Republican, nor Democrats camps... nor in some half-assed compromise between them.
They have been taking turns screwing us for decades.
