It paves the way for government forces to target any individual for any reason and do whatever they wish to them.
But you can relax because they'd never actually DO that.

As each baby step is taken by the government, as each right is methodically squashed (and sometimes quietly, without notice by the masses), I get this horrible feeling in the pit of my stomach that a police state is slowly, inexorably sneaking up on us.
Someone mentioned, either here or on another board I frequent, that he felt the US would eventually end up in another civil war. I scoffed at the notion then. Now, I'm beginning to believe he may be right.

if there ever were another civil war, it would be against city vs country people. i'm pretty sure that the country people would win, mainly 'cause (and i can say this from expierence) city people can't hunt!!

Actually it will be city people vs. city people at first. If the country people are smart they'll let the city people thin themselves out. Think about it; where will they get their food and water? Believe it or not, city people are not consumed with "country people" the way country people are consumed with city people. They are too busy fending each other off. But don't underestimate them either. I grew up in the city and can probably out-shoot most people here. Seeing the worst that humans are capable of also has a way of dulling compassion. Hardened urban criminals will have no problem killing you in cold blood and there's more than you think.

Why does my confidence = an insult? I'm just very, very good with a gun. I wasn't named captain of my High School rifle team as a sophomore (first year of eligibility) and draw interest from the USOC because I sucked. I stand by what I said. And I said "most people here", not ALL (I've lost a little bit in the past ten years or so). Count yourself among the minority if it makes you feel better.

Stock up on common ammo (9mm, .45, 12guage etc) folks. Events in the US in the next 10 to 20 years may prove it's equal to or even better than cash.
Just a thought,

These little changes in law remind me of the Frog story, put a frog in a pot of cool water and gradually increase the heat, it will sit there until it boils to death. Throw it into a pot of boiling water and it will jump out immediately. In many ways we are like the frog, we adjust.

I would never denegrate most of the posters here by assuming that I was better at a certain skill than them. I don't claim to be a better shooter than anyone. But it seems to be automatic for you. You may not even realize that you are offending a lot of folks with these off the wall claims on many of your posts, which is kinda sad. Actually, I could be wrong about that, which is even more sad. I think it's likely that the skill level of the members here represents the skill level of the rest of the shooters I encounter out there and I'm better than 80% of them (the number would be closer to 90% if I weren't out of practice).

Clutch, White's Ferry... Clutch - White's FerryJes! Great song. Seems I should give a credit in the signature. Full transcription: Only the dirt I do believe. As memory vanishes among the leaves.
Wizard of tickets is always glad to charge a pilgrim's fare. Jubilee's generally early. Let's take the country air. Mistreating granite, limestone, and clay. It's a shameful soil. But all grows well on the floodplain tract if you can afford the toil.
Cradled in ivy, we will allow the moss to prosper upon our brows.
Boxer rebellion, the Holy Child. They all pay their rent. But none together can testify to rhythm of a road well bent. Saddles and zip codes, passports and gates, the Jones' keep. In August the water is trickling, in April it's furious deep.

Only the dirt I do believe. Divinity vanishes among the leaves. Neil Fallon on the song's meaning: "Every once in a while I go out on a drive through some old country roads in Maryland and Virginia. One of these routes goes over the Potomac via White's Ferry. This song is about some of the sights and experiences of one particular drive in September of 2006."

I really hope the Pres does the right thing and vetoes it. I won't bet on it, though. Hopefully the POTUS will honor his word and veto the bill. However, I don't have much faith that those in power will do anything that limits their power.

OK, who defines what a terrorist organization is? I believe the "Goverment" now includes animal rights groups that release animals, the Hells Angels and several of the constutionalist groups. This is more than a start down a path we do not want to walk down. I never thought I would agree with Obama but I am with him on this one.

The government, and even more chillingly, the police, use some truly dreadful "authorities" to identify "terrorists" and "hate groups"... The Southern Poverty Law Center and the Anti Defamation League are a couple of the terrorist-defining-organizations I'm referring to. According to them I have the qualities of a "neo-Confederate", practically the worst of the worst... don't turn your back around me! -Mike

(b) Applicability to United States Citizens and Lawful Resident Aliens-
(1) UNITED STATES CITIZENS- The requirement to detain a person in military custody under this section does not extend to citizens of the United States.
Note that is says "the requirement to detain a person (specifically a citizen in this case) in military custody" but to me that leaves the option to do so wide open. It's just not required. Am I the only one who interprets it that way?
