Bikers don't need shrinks!

Colleyville, TX

WWW
« on: December 12, 2011, 08:39:34 AM »

Hey folks, here's a contest that's custom made for riders. Jody Dean at 98.7 KLUV is looking for the best dive restaurant within 45 minutes of Al Lamb's Dallas Honda and they are putting some prizes to it.  Here's the link to enter http://club.kluv.radio.com/asp3/ContestDetail.aspx?AID=172077

They will announce the winner next Thursday and lead a Saturday lunch ride from Al's (at 10:00 on 12/17) to the winning location. You can get more details by listening to their morning show on 98.7 weekdays between now and then. Enter your favorite place and win a vacation.

"Is there a charity involved?", you ask.  Why, yes. They are taking voluntary donations for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation/Ride for Kids, but as a VRCC member, you can also donate through your own FirstGiving.com page to get started towards helping the VRCC come in first place club again at the 2012 DFW Ride for Kids.  Just go to http://www.firstgiving.com/rideforkids/2012-dallasfort-worth-ride-for-kids, click on Fundraise and select the the Texas VRCC Valkyrie Riders Team.

Everyone knows Tom's Burgers are the best so the other places people think are so good are not even mentioned.

I think we should have a "burger" contest in the area. We'll visit Stackhouse and after a few days visit Tom's.

Are you confident enough?  Evil

You don't have to wait for the confirmation of Tom's Burgers being the best.  It's just a formality, anyway. coolsmiley

Okay.

       Enough of this burger bickering.

Not exactly the Metroplex but, Sweetie Pie's Ribeyes (Decatur, Texas) makes their burgers from fresh ground Ribeye and are head and shoulders above anything else!

AND their chicken fried steak (also made from Ribeye) is so tender you can cut it with a fork

No BBQ entries from the VRCC? Or, are they all just too far out of the metromess?  I failed to read the directions when I originally entered and put the Moosehead Cafe in Crockett - not quite within 45 minutes, eh?

I'm sure Jody is getting plenty of entries, but I want to know about BBQ and Mexican in addition to burgers (which would have to include Flip's for burgers).

I can tell that the VRCC food tour is going to require a bigger belt.

Or there's always Sahara Restaurant at 5441 Alpha Road. It features Mediterranean, Persian, and Healthy Food. I haven't been there yet, but I'll bet they've got a delicious veggie or tofu burger.

Burger bickering?  Heck, this is the world's best contest - even if your place loses, you win!  cooldude

Yeah, gotta' add Sweetie Pies to the list based upon the ingredients.  But in the 45 minute competition, I'm still voting for Tom's Burgers.

And, the winner is......  Hard Eight BBQ and all its smokey goodness.  Guessing part of it ended up being that they needed a place bigger than a true hole in the wall for the ride tomorrow.  Meet at Al's around 10:30 with KSU at 11:00.  Guessing it's going to be a good party and I know the lunch will be good.

That's a dive?  Sounds like the winner was decided before the contest started. tickedoff

So, should we show up with a bunch of old Valkyries that look better than the new Hondas?

While I don't consider it a dive, I do like the food. Can't go away hungry either.  If you haven't had the corn bread salad, have some of that with your meat and don't forget the cobbler.  I think Wanderer goes there just for the cobbler.

Wish we were going to be in town for this, but please pass along to Jody and the KLUV crew that we appreciate them helping out kids with brain tumors in the process of their contest and that they should come to the RFK to meet some of the kids.  I know Jody Dean and Jonathan Hayes both ride.  Bring enough valks out to out-chrome the hogs.  If you can't make the ride, they should be getting to Hard 8 in Coppell by 11:30-11:45 or so and you can meet them there.  Guessing they will have some swag with them, too.
