The Landmass Between Mobile And New Orleans

« on: December 16, 2011, 11:57:38 AM »

About a month ago I started having problems with Cricket.  Vet said she had a skin infection and gave me some anti bacterial shampoo to wash her with.  About that time she started pooing on the carport.  Didn't matter how many time I scolded her or rubbed her nose in it and spanked her, it continued.  Yesterday morning she tried to bite me.  I put her out at the dog house all day and brought her inside at dark.  Last night she peed in front of her bed.

Took her to the vet this morning.  The senior vet saw her.  He said the skin infection was the result of a compromised immune system and that it had reached her brain.  That was why she was having behavior problems and it was only going to get worse.  I made the decision to go ahead and put her down.  The vet said I didn't have to stay but I've always stayed with my pets till the end.  He had a hard time finding a vein so I think she didn't have much time left.

She's in a better place where she can see without cataracts and a back that doesn't bother her anymore.  She was Mom's dog and I got her when Mom passed two years ago so maybe they're together and Mom is throwing her duck for her.   :'(

Sorry for your loss. I know they're just animals, but they do tie themselves up in our heart strings. I lost my German Shepard a few  months back. The back yard seems so empty without him. Maybe him and Cricket can chase of few of those fat, slow, rabbits I'm sure dog heaven is full of.

Sorry to hear that Marty. I lost the best dog I've ever had since he was a pup last year. We had her 13 years and my wife and I both mourned over her. She was family and super smart.

I know how you feel Bro., maybe we will see them again.  Cry

This thread needs the Rainbow bridge. If I get to the bridge I may not want to cross it.

And that's ok....it brings back memories and tears for me as well. That bridge is there, brother! And when I get there I know they will make me forget that I'm not here anymore.   Hope that bridge doesnt have a weight limit because I'm bringing a large crew with me!    coolsmiley
