As promised, I will be leading a Polar Bear Run on Jan 1, 2012. Those not too hung over should start the New Year in the best possible way - in the saddle. Of your motorcycle.
Since 2012 is the last year we can have a Polar Bear Run (remember, the world ends this year) I thought I'd put together one that has good places to eat at both ends. We will NOT be dipping any body parts into any bodies of water (except if you plan to take a bath before the ride - and that is more than OK

).
Since the weather is so predicitable in North Central Texas, we have no idea what temperatures will be. Will it be a Solar Bear Run with temps in the 70s? Or will it be a real freezer in the 20s? Won't know until then.
So, I've planned 2 routes. One is 3 hours and one is 1 hour. Those that show up at Poor Richard's at the beginning of the ride will vote on which route we take. Should be an interesting vote if it's like 39 degrees!

Prime Route - Temps 40 degrees and above, no rain.

Start at Poor Richard's Cafe in Plano. Meet at 8:30am if you want breakfast (the food is good here) or at 9:15am if you are eating before coming. KSU with full gas tanks at 9:30am. Then run up 75 for a bit, run on 455 through Celina, Valley View and Sanger, short run through the Caddo Grasslands and then stopping for lunch at Sweetie Pie's in Decatur to see if their burgers are up to snuff. Should take about 3 hours for the trip to Decatur.
That is where the ride ends. Why? Because you guys immediately head home after lunch and will take your shortest route home. That's just the way it works.

We start again at Poor Richard's Cafe in Plano, go up 75 to 455 and to Celina, but then turn south to Prosper and head back to Poor Richard's for more coffee to warm up. This is a one hour ride.
